I Miss Baan Wang Kra Jae School !!!

On Wednesday the 21st

of November all of the Year 6 students went to

all the 5 school in Kanchanaburi province. The 6SS got to one of the

school named Baan Wang Kra Jae School (BWKJ). I was so excited to

see the kids there because Ian and I would be teaching them

badminton. When we got to the school in the morning, the students

were singing a National Anthem and then Mr. Sam would like us to chat

with the kids ( it was a miracle !!!) and Mr. Sam want us to present

ourselves by telling our names to them Brian and I were assigned to be

a Thai translators for Daniel, Ethan and Cameron. Then we have been

told to line up in a mix order with both NIST and the BWKJ students to

pick up a bag of rice from the NIST school bus. These rice came from

the money that we raise from many activities at school during the past

few months. One teacher said OMG so much rice!!!. Then we headoff to the cafeteria. Mr. Sam told Ms. Warunee to say Everybody,

please sit with the other school students to help us know them ore and

be friends with them. When we finished talking to each others, we

heard Mr. Sam said we are going to do the NIST activities first. My

activity was Badminton. Ian and I were doing this activity together.

First we ran to set up the net between the two trees. Then I told them

that I would be teaching them and these rackets will be given for themto play with later on. First Ian and I taught them how to serve and then

how to do both forehand and back hand strokes. Then we played a

game of badminton by arranging a mix team between Jump and Ton VS

Ian and Motdang. We had a great time with them. Then we swapped

the activities and I participate to be making Somtam with Sunshine,

Pan, Gift and Michelle. First we all make Somtam with the following

ingredients :

Ingredients of making Somtam (for kids: not really spicy)

1.You need to chop and slice the papaya, carrots and cucumber tolittle string shape

2.Thai Chili (prick)3.2 little garlic pieces4.4 pieces of little tomato5.Nuts6.Lime juices (1 spoon or more)7.Fish sauce8.Palm sugar9.Mix them from 2-8 all together10. Put the cucumber, carrot that is cut little string into the bowl

with all mix items

11. Mix them again12. Taste it (Hope that its yummy)

Sunshine and I were the cook; Pan, Gift and Michelle were the people

who make cucumbers and carrots. Miss Warunee had asked us

(Somtam group) to make three full plates of Somtam. When we

finished making Somtam, we went for lunch and I got a chance to sit

right next to Motdang and see of how they enjoyed the Somtam. I am

glad to see that they were enjoying so much. Next, we head off to play

because it was a time to play after lunch. While we were eating lunch, Iasked them something about Are you friends with the girls? The

boy from their school answered with a very happy face, Yes,

everybody here are friends Then I asked them a second question If

you can choose to go to a good school, would you like to go there He

answered I would rather stay here because all my friends are nice to

me and I love this place, this place is full of nature and animals. I was

surprised with these answers. Soon, we went to play and I saw most of

the girls were playing at the playground and most boys are playing inthe field. Ian and I was really happy that a lot of people started to

come in and play with us and it was time to rest. The Head Master

announced that we will go to the elephants camp. Firstly, Mr. Sam

thought that it was only 1 KM away from the BWKJ School, so he had an

idea that we would rather walk there and see the beautiful view and

rive. But there was a problem because the elephants camp is too far

away, it was around 3 KM therefore, we decided to go by a car.

Unfortunately, there were no cars available but we had song-thaw

(small open pick-up) which I didnt really know who is the owner. Most

of the girls went in there and the boys turn to go to the pick-up but it

cant take all of us into one pick-up, so the rest and I had to wait for the

next one. Suddenly, the Head Master drove his own van to pick up my

friends and I to go to the elephants camp that we all screamed with a

big smile when we saw the van. When we were in the van, we pass the

song-thaw then we open the windows and say hi and laugh to them,

but they were not happy because they saw us on the van and I was

guessing that they may think that it was unfair to them. The driver

drove slowly and wait for them because the song-thaw car were

moving very slowly like a turtle. Not for long, all the kids and I in the

van started to shout Go faster, go faster with them !! The Thai kids

and I started to translate the words in Thai to the driver, so he knew

what we wanted him to do. As we went faster, we stopped yelling.

Soon, we arrived at the elephant camp. The kids started to run down

to an enormous group to pick up the bananas. But the teachers told us

to wait and we would go to the big elephants. When we saw the big

elephants, some kids ran to it and some kids walked slowly. Above it

were people sitting on them with a sharp spear when the elephant did

something wrong, he will poke them in the neck with the spear. So, itwas sad to see the elephant handler using a sharp spear on the

elephants neck. People were necessary going to cry out to tears.

Some were scared when they give the banana to the elephants. The

elephant will use its trunk to grab the banana from our hands and

would suck our hands in too. Some were scared because the elephants

were blowing their trunk with some water out of their nose. When we

finished feeding the elephants, we went to the toilet to wash our hands

because the banana was stuck on our hands. We spent a little time at

the elephant camp and got together in the line again and we used the

numbers 1 to 3 to know which car that we would get back to the BWKJ

School. It was so weird that all the BWKJ students came back by the

song-thaw and all NIST students came back by the van and the pick-up.

Mr. Sam told all of us to sit down and listen. First, it was closed to the

time to go back to the hotel by not saying goodbye to the BWKJ

students. But Mr. Sam said that we had some time to play the game

and talk to them and also it would be good to us because Mr. Chad and

I made a game with the rules that the last class who went back to the

hotel will be the winner because it means that class had a lot of ideas to

share, we had a lot of activities for them to learn. Therefore, we

decided to play until 4.30 p.m. Before we left from the BWKJ School,

they gave the fruits to us. I was thinking in my head that why are they

so nice!!!. When we finished, we went to sit together and chat for a

moment and then we went to play badminton again. We play until it

was nearly time to leave and then I took the new badminton racket give

to the Head Master of BWKJ School. The Head Master told me to take

the badminton and take a photo with him for record. I was very happy

and I wanted to scream !!!

Then, Mr. Sam called us to come at the meeting place where we always

meet together. He told all of us that it was really time to leave. What I

shout in my head ..NO way !!! Mr. Sam asked all the BWKJ students and

teachers to stand and all the NIST students would walk and shake

everybody hands before we got on the bus. I walked with a sad face

but was smiling when I was looking at their faces. We had a really fun

time together. Once of the kids wanted to see me again and I really

wanted to see him on the classs exhibition as plan again. I went in the

bus with sadness but I know that my life must to go on and keep this

moment as a good memory forever.
