Villages of Life2006 – 2007Villages of Life started with a phone call from Freddy Tuyizere, National Director of Youth for Christ Burundi in June 2006 to Ted Bosveld whilst he was volunteering in Rwanda with Hillsong’s Hope Rwanda campaign.
Early 2007 I, Ted Bosveld travelled to Burundi on a scoping trip.
The 13-year civil war had only just ended with the signing of a peace agreement between the government and the opposition. The country was in an absolute mess and in desperate need of help.
In this document, you will see what has happened in the past 10 years since that first visit.
Consider how you can assist with our future 5-year plan to further build up and empower this country into the future.
What I love about how this project has evolved and developed over the first 10 years is that it is building much needed infrastructure and creating much needed employment.
It’s about rescuing orphaned children and putting them into a loving family.
It’s building a strong education system to help transform the country from the ground up. And
also, combining this with sustainability farming and businesses.
To empower Youth for Christ Burundi to fulfil their mission which is “To raise up the next generation of Godly Leader to transform the nation of Burundi”
Strong foundations are needed to build strong buildings

Over the years there have been numerous volunteer trips where lives have been blessed and transformed. The people of Burundi are reassured that they are not forgotten. In 2010 a team of medical personnel gave the orphans their first medical check up and all their records were started and filed.
A number of shipping containers have been sent from Tasmania to facilitate and meet the needs of Villages of Life Burundi. Including the following -
• Solar system• Fish farm solar pumps • Fridge and Freezer• Building materials/guttering• Sewing Machines and fabric• Computers for the School• Clothing and shoes• Welders and consumables
