INTRODUCTION

Let me start off by saying, “CONGRATULATIONS”!!! You have made the best decision in

your life. I celebrate your decision and can attest that your life will never be the same. Luke 15:7

states, “I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth,

more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.” Isn’t this feeling

awesome, knowing that heaven is rejoicing, because you turned your life over to Jesus?

Before I continue to the seven powerful principles to execute after receiving Christ, I

want to make sure you have an understanding of what just took place in your life. Proverbs 4:7

states, “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get

understanding.” Whether you sincerely repented at a powerful service, in a prison cell, or in the

comforter of your home, this is just the beginning. Romans 10:9-10 states “That if thou shalt

confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath

raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto

righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

If you did not first repent and confess Jesus as Lord over your life, or you’re not sure, if

you did in the past, then please take the time right now and confess this out loud:

Father, in the name of Jesus. Thank you for giving me this opportunity to give my life to you. I

admit I have sinned and come short of your glory. I now repent for every sin I’ve committed. I

believe God raised Jesus from the dead and I receive Jesus in my heart now. I declare Jesus is

Lord of my life and I am saved. In Jesus’ name. Amen

Again, congratulations and welcome to the family of Christ. Your life will be much better

with Christ on your side. Now, I am not saying your life will be easy, however, when ever you

are going through a situation, Jesus said, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy

laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and

lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden

is light” (Matthews 11:28-30).

You no longer have to turn to substance abuse, rage, sex, depression or any other method

to give you temporary peace from situations. You don’t have to feel guilty of what you did in the

past, because you are now a new creature. “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new

creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” (2 Corinthians

5:17). You are a new creation, meaning your spirit is now re-established in Jesus and not in what

you did in the past.

Therefore, God has forgiven you of ALL your sins and you can now enjoy His benefits.

One of the benefits wrapped up in the gift of salvation is you being spiritually free by the blood

of Jesus. No more curses and bondages to keep you bound. Salvation comes from the Greek

word, Soteria1, which means deliverance. You are delivered from sin, sickness, poverty, and

spiritual death. Why, because “Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being

made a curse for us…” (Galatians 3:13). Nevertheless, none of this is possible without the

foundation of your faith. It is faith that ushers you into deliverance.

FAITH

To obtain deliverance faith is a necessity. “For by grace are ye saved through faith;

and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast”

(Ephesians 2:8-9). Due to the grace of Jesus and your faith in Him, you are saved. You are not

saved, because you’re a good person, or you’re not as bad as others, or the good deeds you do for

people, but you are saved through faith.

What is Faith?

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen”

(Hebrews 11:1). Faith is declaring or expecting those things that are not as though they are. Faith

is having full confidence in God’s Word, regardless of how things around you may appear.

Why Do You Use Faith?

“But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he that cometh to God must

believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him” (Hebrews

11:6). God responds to your faith. It is your faith that pleases God and causes Him to move on

your behalf.

How Do I Get More Faith?

“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God” (Romans

10:17). To continue building your faith in God, you must keep hearing the Word of God. You

may have heard the Word once or twice in the past, but faith doesn’t just come by what you

heard. Your faith increases by consistently hearing the Word of God. This causes you to grow

and mature in the Word of God.

GROW IN GOD

Repenting and believing in Jesus are wonderful, but it’s just the beginning. It would be

easy, if as soon as you confessed the declaration above, Jesus would accept you into heaven and

say, “Welcome my child, well done.” However, if you’re still reading this book, unfortunately,

that did not happen yet! This means you now have to walk out your Christian life.

Living a Christian (or Christ like) life is not hard, when you practice discipline and

obedience. God wants you to be sanctified, which means to be set apart for His use. “For I am

the LORD your God: ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am

holy...” (Leviticus 11:44). You can only walk in holiness, when you develop a consistent habit of

sanctification. You will not be perfect in this Christian walk, but, you should strive to be like

Jesus.

If you happen to mess up, don’t beat up on yourself. You are still considered a spiritual

“babe”. “As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby”

(1 Peter 2:2). This is why the Word speaks about being born-again because your spirit starts

fresh as a baby, then you can begin to grow into the things of God. However, this does not give

you a license to intentionally sin knowing that you are forgiven and a babe in Christ. It’s not

right to abuse God’s grace by keep doing wrong and asking for His forgiveness.

Yes, He knows your heart, but “As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous

therefore, and repent.” (Revelation 3:19) If you mess up, just repent. To repent for your sins

and to feel sorry for your sins are two different things. Sorry for your sins is to regret you were

either caught or just sorry for what you did. To repent is completely changing your mind from

the sin(s) and going the opposite direction towards God.

Think about this, in the natural, a baby who has started walking will sometimes fall.

Why, because the baby is still learning how to balance its body to have enough strength to walk

and ultimately run. However, it is a process from crawling; to walking; to running. Yes, you may

make some unwise choices, but just like a baby, if you keep striving to grow, you will eventually

run, then soar like an eagle.

I truly believe that you will grow and mature in God, as you are baptized in water and

filled with the Holy Ghost, develop a relationship with God, transform your mind, obtain the

character of God, attend church regularly, fulfill the great commission, and confess the Word of

God over your life. These are essential key elements for a new believer in Christ.
