The 2020 I JDI Grand Session will be held July 8-12, 2020 at the Ramada Topeka Downtown Hotel & Convention Center, 420 SE 6th Avenue, Topeka, Kansas 66607. All Grand Session registration forms, fees, housing forms, and contest entry forms are due no later than June 1, 2020. REGISTRATION: Everyone attending Grand Session 2020 must register even if only attending 1 day. Again this year all Session documentation will be completed online, if you have any questions please contact Session Chairs Melinda Kinders ([email protected]) or Danae Bennett ([email protected]). Any person who is an Executive Member of a Bethel Guardian Council, Past Bethel Guardian, or Past Associate Bethel Guardian should register as a voting delegate. Session payments should be made payable to Grand Session. Payments should be mailed to Melinda Kinders, 13911 Marty Street, Apartment #4207, Overland Park, KS 66223. LATE FEE: If payment and/or registration forms are not postmarked and/or time stamped by the deadline of June 1, 2020 a late fee of $15 should be included. A late fee of $30 should be included for any Bethel registration postmarked after June 1st. There will be NO late fee for any Daughter that is registered within 7 days of her Initiation. VISITORS: Everyone attending activities at the 2020 Grand Session should register by paying the appropriate fee. NAME TAGS: The 2020 name tag must to be worn at all times when you are outside of your room with the exception of competitions. We would also ask that an adult hold the girls name tags during Formal Opening, Pageant, the Grand Bethel meeting and those participating in the Installations. HOUSING FEES: Just a reminder that all fees are due by the June 1st deadline! The only exception to this rule is a Daughter that is initiated and those paying the late fee. HOTEL CHECK IN: The Bethel Guardian or her Representative will have room keys distributed to her/him after 5pm by the Session Chairs. Luggage may be unloaded at that time. If you are arriving after Wednesday, please contact the Session Chairs for room assignment and keys. JOB’S DAUGHTERS HOUR: Job’s Daughters Hour will be held on Wednesday evening with the Vice Grand Guardian and the Vice Associate Grand Guardian. All Daughters are expected to be in attendance. Please make sure your girls are present and on time!! GRAND BETHEL OFFICERS & REPRESENTATIVES that plan to enter for the 2020-2021 drawing at the Grand Bethel meeting must be in attendance for the entire session. Also, the Grand Bethel Officers and Representatives need to attend the Formal Opening Practice. VOTING DELEGATES: Voting delegates should pick up their credentials from the credentials table prior to the 8:00 a.m. start of the business session on Thursday. The 2020 adult membership will be awarded to the Bethel with the most voting delegates in the room at roll call on Friday. Remember, the business meeting starts at 8:30 a.m. on Friday!! Please see the schedule to know when the credentials table will be open.

GGC COMMITTEE CHAIRS: Please be prepared to give your report when called on during the business session. Three typed copies of your report are to be turned into the Grand Secretary at the business meetings on Thursday and Friday. If you would also email your report to the Grand Secretary, it would make the preparation of the proceedings much smoother!!


GRAND SESSION RULES & REGULATIONS

Kansas Job’s Daughters Will Be in The Spotlight During Grand Session

Please make sure you are following the dress code set by the Grand Guardian. Daughters and Adults are expected to exemplify the ideal public image at all times in order to ensure the highest representation of Job’s Daughters. Any active member of Job’s Daughters caught using tobacco products, alcohol or illegal drugs while in attendance at Grand Session will be sent home immediately. CHAPERONES: Just a reminder that all Daughters under the age of 20 must be chaperoned during the entire session. There must be 1 CAV adult to every 5 girls. No Daughter is to leave or go outside the hotel without a CAV adult chaperone. Chaperones should be aware of their responsibility and the importance of their role in overseeing the safety of the Daughters in their care. Daughters who have turned 20 but are still in a role as a Daughter must follow the same rules through the completion of Grand Session. Daughters will be allowed to go to competitions or meetings in group of 2 or more without an adult escorting them. CELL PHONES: Cell phones may not be used during official events of Grand Session. If for some reason you need to be on your phone, please make sure it is silenced. FOOD DELIVERIES: Any food your Bethel has delivered to the hotel may not be delivered any further than the hotel lobby. An adult should be meeting the delivery person. SWIMMING POOL: A reminder if your girls are going to the pool the same rule applies: 1 CAV adult per 5 girls at the pool. There is no lifeguard on duty. Cover ups (not towels) should be worn to and from the pool. HOTEL ROOMS: Please remember this is a public hotel and we are not the only guests here. Hallway conversations should be kept to a minimum. Make sure the doors are not propped open and when the lights are on the curtains are closed. Under no circumstances should anyone leave a mess for the hotel staff to clean up. Bethel Guardians, please make sure to walk through all of your rooms to ensure they are in good condition before you leave. ANY UNNECESSARY CLEANUP WILL BE BILLED TO THE BETHEL RESPONSIBLE FOR THE MESS/DAMAGE!! The hotel has been instructed on who is allowed to come to the front desk for requests. Please let your girls and adults know not to go to the front desk.


Housing at Grand Session

All room reservations at the Ramada for the I JDI Session are to be made online using your Bethel’s online registration forms. Room reservations must be made NO later than June 1, 2020.

All rooms will be $105.00 (tax included) per night payable to Grand Session. Bethels and individuals will be responsible for any charges to the rooms reserved and not used, unless cancelled by the June 15th deadline.

Every effort will be made to place the Bethel’s rooms together. However, if there are adults attending that are not needed as chaperones for your Bethel please indicate on their room reservation forms. No guarantee for room proximity can be provided if additional rooms are required exceeding your final reservations.

CHANGE TO REGISTRATION: When Bethels arrive in Topeka, practices will begin right away to avoid registration congestion in the hotel lobby. Keys will be distributed by Session Chairs between 5-6pm, when rooms will be available, and luggage may be unloaded at this time. Please note this change prior to your arrival. All Session materials (i.e. bags, programs, meal tickets) will be available in rooms when keys are distributed to the Bethel Guardian or designated adult.

Complete the Room Registration online form detailing each room that is needed and indicate any special needs for that room. Again, please make sure your hotel information is submitted no later than the June 1st deadline.

To Bethel Guardians and Bethel Chaplains:

As Grand Bethel Chaplain and Grand Guide, we are tasked with the duty of planning and directing the Bible and Necrology Ceremonies for Formal Opening. We are asking the Chaplains who served during this GGC year to assist us with these ceremonies. If you have not had a Chaplain or they are not attending Grand Session, please choose other girls to participate from your Bethel. We would like 2 girls per Bethel to participate. Please indicate who will be participating when you complete registration. Practice will be on Wednesday evening so check the Session book for the place and time. It is important the girls attend the practice to know what their role will be in the ceremonies. Daughters should plan to wear Official Regalia (no capes and crowns) to Formal Opening.

We would also ask each Bethel to submit the names of any active member, Majority Member, Past Bethel Guardian, Past Associate Bethel Guardian, or Past Council member who has passed away this GGC year. Please send me the name, title and date of death so we can honor them during the Necrology Ceremony. To Bethel Guardians and Kansas Job’s Daughters:

It is time to plan for the flag ceremony for the 2020 Grand Session Formal Opening. We need the Guides and Marshals of the 2018-2020 terms to participate. If your Bethel does not have a Guide or Marshal please send a pro-tem to participate. We want to include daughters from all of the Kansas Bethels.

There will be a practice at Grand Sessions and all participants will need to attend. If a girl cannot attend the practice, please send someone to practice in her place or notify me prior to the practice.

All participants will be in official bethel officer regalia. No capes and crowns are necessary. Bethel Guardians, please bring your Bethel’s US flag and Bethel Flag with you to Grand Session.
