NOTES

1. According to Reference 38 above, the name of the wife of Jacob Young, was Maria Coeper, b abt 1750; confirmed 3 Nov 1770, Harlingen Reformed Church, Somerset County, NJ.

2. The Catharine, 24 years old, shown living with Abraham Young (1850 U.S. Census, East Buffalo Township, Union County, PA, p. 286, Series M432, Roll 831, NARA) is too young to have been Catharine (Kerstetter) Young. This may have been a recording error on the part of the census taker as Abraham's War of 1812 Pension Application !Reference 31 above) mentions only one wife. Some researchers are assigning birth and death dates for Catharine (Kerstetter) Young of 19 June 1791 and 7 August 1853 and indicating she was buried at Dreisback Cemetery. Their work is undocumented and thus far it has not been possible to verify this.

3. In the 1860 U.S. Census for East Buffalo Twp., Union County, PA, p. 730 [M653, Roll 1188, NARA] the second person listed in the household of Levi Young, 30, is a female, given name Alice, surname Young, 26 years old. It is this compiler's opinion that this census listing is badly garbled. Levi married Eliza Parker 6 November 1851. In all subsequent censuses through 1900 Eliza is shown as Levi's wife. It would appear that the name of "Alice" was a mistake and should have read "Eliza" Also the ages of Levi and Alice (Eliza) are incorrect. Living in the household was a girl named Emily Young, aged 15, apparently too old to have been a daughter of Levi and whose relationship is unknown. Emily might have been the daughter of Levi and Eliza considering their true ages rather than those given in the 1860 Census. The remaining children shown agree with those living with Levi and Eliza Young in subsequent censuses.
