Dear Readers,

What a year it has been!! We

are indeed, at a historic turning point.

In this edition of EXCITONIUM we bring

before you the creativity of class IB in

the form of subject based articles.

There is also a display of different

works of art designed and drawn by us.

Our sincere thanks to our teachers

and parents for their guidance and

their cooperation in bringing out this

volume.

PORCUPINE

Porcupines are large rat like animals with coats of sharp and pointy

spikes that protect them from predators. Porcupines live in forests,

deserts, and grasslands. Some species stay on trees and others live on

ground. Porcupines use its spikes for defense.

P – Pointy spikes

O -- Oval shaped

R – Rodent like

C – Keratin Coats on spikes

U – Usually Brown, Grey or White

P – Penetrate animals for defense.

I -- Is the third biggest rodent.

N -- Nick named “Quill Pig.”

E -- Eats green leaves, fruits, twigs, herbs, roots of trees and even farm

crops.

A SPECIAL DAY WITH MY MOTHER

Since there was a lockdown for a long period and there was no outside food

eating, we got bored and decided to try new cooking items at home. So first

we decided to prepare a cake as we recently bought an oven. Then I and my

mom saw some videos in YouTube on how to make a chocolate cake, as I

love to eat those delicious chocolaty cakes! And they are just fantabulous and

amazing!!! After seeing so many videos we went to the grocery store to get

those delicious ingredients to make our home-made cake for the first time

and of course few of the ingredients were already at home. I helped my mom

in stirring and mixing after that like any small kid I took a nice small taste of

that amazing chocolate!!! Then we kept the cake into the oven for 20 min and

the cake was ready. It came so delicious as the cakes that we buy in the store.

This was one of the special things I had done with mom and enjoyed a lot.

How does tree relate to your life?

IF YOU SAVE ME, I WILL SAVE YOU

Trees are important in our life. It gives us Oxygen which is

required for our breath. They also absorb the Carbon dioxide.

Many species live in Trees. Trees form the Natural habitat of

many animals, birds and insects.

They offer us cool shade during summer. Trees helps

make the land fertile. We get good crops out of Fertile Land.

They are the sources of Vegetables, Fruits and flowers. Seeds,

Nuts and Fruits are food sources of humans and animals.

We will get Paper and Wood from trees, but we need conserve

them for the sake of environment and Forests.

Tree Provide Fuel for Cooking and Heating.

Thick Forests with Trees helps to form Rain. Plants will use to

make Medicines.

SHARING IS CARING

I am Dharmik. I know that sharing is caring because I share toys, food

with my sister.

I share my old clothes to the poor people every year. I will take care of

my sister when my mom and dad are busy. I feed my sister snacks and

play with her every day. If you care other people, they will follow us and

everyone will be happy. I will care my family.

I would share eating food with others. I share cycle, toys with my friends

in park.

Uses of Sharing.

Sharing is good.

People will be happy.

Addition and Subtraction

How do you differentiate addition and subtraction?

1. Addition means more, totality.

Example- 2+2=4.

Subtraction means less, reduction.

Example- 2-2=0.

2. Addition takes place when we put things together. Example- 2

(apples) +4 (oranges)+1 (coconut) = Total 7 fruits.

Subtraction takes place when we take something away.

Example- I have 14 marbles from where I gave my 4. So,

now I have 14-4=10 marbles.

3.When we add zero (0) to a number the answer is same. Adding

zero to a number means we are giving nothing to number.

Zero (0) is nothing. -Example-5+0=5.

When we subtract zero (0) from a number the answer of

subtraction remains same too. Subtracting zero from a

number means we are taking nothing from a number.

Example- 5-0=5

4.When we add two same the result will be double of that no.

Example-3+3=6

When we subtract two same no result will be zero.

Example- 3-3=0

Addition moves forward.

Example- 1+1+1=3

Subtraction moves backward.

Example- 3-2=1

In our daily life some people cannot start their day without junk food.

The people who do this will spend their future on bed suffering from

severe diseases. We eat healthy food now, we will be healthy, strong and

active in future. We can have lot more time to explore the world!

Children like us don’t like to eat healthy, but if we don’t, we get sick

frequently. We should not eat junk foods such as burgers, cakes, pizzas,

chocolate, cool drinks, fries. Eat Fruits, Vegetables, Nuts and drink 8

glass of water.

HOW CAN WE MAKE CHILDREN EAT HEALTHY FOOD?

We can cut vegetables or fruits

into shapes and arrange them into

a flower.

We can cut the vegetable or fruits

and make it a healthy juice.

We can cut carrots into strips like

French fries.

We can make the vegetable into a patty and put it in the chapatti or

wrap.

We can make the fruits into crushed paste and apply it on the

bread.

We can make fresh fruit juice Popsicles.

LIFE WITHOUT TRANSPORTATION

DHYAN P.R

Transportation plays a very vital role in everyday life. Without

transportation we cannot move from one place to another place.

With no vehicles we will use animals for movement. People will

walk more and hence stay fit and healthy. No vehicles will also

mean less pollution and our nature will become greener and

cleaner. But without vehicles we cannot travel to school,

hospital if you get hurt or sick and we cannot see our dear ones.

Hence world will be disconnected in all ways!

TRIP TO THE MOON

I will travel to the Moon in my rocket.

The things that I will carry to the Moon are my teddy bear,

Books, slime, wave board. I will make bubbles using my

slime.

I want to jump and explore all around the Moon.

In future I will learn more about space and I will become an

astronaut.

Appreciation and Thanksgiving

We the learners of grade IB are grateful to our

school, our principal, all our teachers, parents

and classmates for encouraging us to express

our literary and creative talents in this

addition of EXCITONIUM. In the midst of this

uncertain times, we are already reflecting

about the lessons learned and looking forward

to new beginnings.
