Iam News – The Swansea Comics Collective

The Swansea Comics Collective was founded in 2008, with local artists and writers with a passion for comic books and the ambition to create their own.   The result of this collaboration was Copperpolis, which, as the name suggests, focuses heavily on Swansea and the surrounding areas.

I Am News - Drink & Draw

The team have created a fictional version of Swansea, drawing inspiration from both history and mythology and

mixing it with original imaginative ideas. The Collective is a non-profit organisation; everything earned from their creative endeavours goes straight back into their work, funding the next project and the

workshops they run, such as “Creating Comics”. Therefore, they run a host of fundraising events, such

as “Drink & Draw”.

I Am News- Beer Mats

At IAmNews, we are naturally drawn to advocating creativity, so, recently, took the opportunity to attend a “Drink & Draw” event. The event is a less formal type meeting for the group, a chance to relax a bit, have a few drinks, and fundraise from small commissioned pieces of artwork. The “Drink & Draw” beermats aren’t costly, and you can ask for just about anything drawn onto them.
