The machine construction

With the help of F.M. analysis, the machine components are optimized according to their static and dynamic rigidity. The machine bed’s core is made of HYDROPOL®, a composite material consisting of special concrete and steel that provides numerous advantages over conventional materials. The results are improved surface quality, more precise manufacturing tolerances, and longer tool life.

Integrated spindle

motor (ISM)

The latest synchronous technologyguarantees the highest dynamics and exceptional torque in a compactdesign. Liquid cooling in conjunctionwith an automatic temperature con-trol maintains a constant temperaturefor all spindle motors.

Tool holder

Adjustment plate

EMCO's new tool alignment systemfurther improves the VDI rapid chan-ge system. No alignment is necessaryanymore. All the tool holders are fitted with an internal coolant supply. This lengthens the tool life andimproves chip removal.

HYPERFlexibility

HYPER Flexibility/ESPRIT

The HYPERTURN delivers flexibility without compromising

productivity. With its powerful, adjustable milling spindle

and nearly inexhaustible tool magazine, the HYPERTURN

can do just about anything fast.

AutomationThe Machines

With the help of the Y axis, it is possible to manufacture circular pockets, rectangularpockets, islands and grooves – with the B axis, beveled surfaces are also possible.

The precise synchronization of the tool drivewith the spindle drive make gear cutting operations on the front surface and periph-ery possible. Gear teeth are manufacturedby hobbing.

Any number of contours can be pro-grammed easily with the transmit soft-ware support. The contour is describedin a milling center with X-, Y- and Z-coordinates and automatically con-verted into a C and X axis interpolation.A rigid C axis is the basic requirementfor accurate contour milling.

With the Y axis, it is possible to manufacturedrill holes. Standard cycles for contouring, drilling, and rigid tapping are also available.

Even in the design stage of the HYPERTURN, the EMCO

developers were aware that a highly productive machine like

the EMCO HYPERTURN would need high-performance auto-

mation periphery. Which is why they also considered the

HYPERTURN Gantry Loader when designing and constructing

the HYPERTURN. This has led to a very homogeneous machine.

Customizing options

The HYPERTURN Gantry Loader is a universal loadingdevice for all HYPERTURN models. EMCO Automationcan equip it according to your individual needs withnumerous gripper and handling systems. How we do it:we standardize the components and customize the soluti-on. The goal: a custom tailored machine for the same price as a standard unit.

Short and to the point

Floorspace costs money. Making small machine footprints a necessity. Inanswer to this demand, EMCO has developed the market’s most compact short loader: the EMCO LM1200. Tailored exactly for the HYPERTURN, it is the perfect solution for automatic feeding and loading of cut length bar stock.

7 Pivoting B axis

The special thing about the HYPERTURN Gantry Loader is the integrated B axis of the gripper head. It enables raw parts to be loaded into devices at an angle and simultaneous pivoting and positioning. This means not onlyalmost unlimited flexibility when loading and unloading, it also dramaticallyreduces cycle times.

Not every customer has the same needs. And so they don't need

the same solutions either. With our large range of options, we give

our customers the opportunity to fit their HYPERTURN according

to their very own individual requirements.

Programmable clamping pressure

Coupling proportional valves with software makes fully automatic adjustment of the clamping pressure possible on the work and counter spindles. This makesmanual adjustment on the hydraulic unit a thing of the past.7

The options

A permanent eye on tool statuses

Tool eye

The tool measurement sensor mounted in the working area of the HYPERTURNmakes it possible to measure tools both in the upper and lower turret within themachine.

7

EMCO tool monitoring system

The tool status is monitored by evaluating the load on the various axis drivemotors. Excessive loads point to extensive tool wear or broken tools. Too little load means a tool is missing.

An ingenious principle. The rotating window ensures that water is removed immediately.

The Hyperturn 665/690 turret rest

There are different rest solutions for our two HYPERTURN modelsfor supporting long, slender workpieces.

3

7

Bull´s eye

The rotating window gives you thebest possible view of the machine'sworking area, so you can observe the cutting process even when coolants are being used.

The band filter ensures the best possible filtering of the cooling lubricant, especially when machining short-cutting materials. This extends maintenance intervals and reduces the downtimes they cause.

Band filter with high-pressure

coolant pumps

A coolant pressure of 25/40/60 or 80 bar can be set as needed. This enables coolant fed drilling and milling tools to be used to their best advantage.

7

Unloading through counter spindle

Long, slender workpieces can be removed from the machine through the counterspindle. Finished pieces can be rolled simply onto an inclined surface or stored in a lateral magazine using a discontinuous belt.

7

Finished part conveyor

The finished-part pick-up device puts the parts on an accumulating conveyor. A discontinuous belt ensures that the often very complex parts do not fall ontoeach other.

On the HYPERTURN 665 and 690 the steady rest is mounted on the lower turretlike a tool.

A permanent steady rest is only available for the HYPERTURN 690.

Measurement device with measurementgauge and integrated part remover. Rejectedparts are separated from accepted parts.
