HYDRONIC PERIMETERHEATINGADVANTAGES

• COMFORTABLE: Hydronicperimeter heat gently blankets theexterior walls and glass, eliminatingthe drafts and local cold spots whichoften occur with forced air heatingsystems. Through the combinedeffects of radiant and convectionheating, people are morecomfortable at temperatures 2 - 4degrees lower offering significantenergy savings. Humidity levels arealso easier to maintain as heatprovided by hydronic finned-tuberadiation does not produce the lowerhumidity levels often associated withforced air and electric heat systems.Rooms can be easily zoned withindividual temperature controls toprovide that extra comfort.

• FLEXIBLE: The piping used todistribute the hydronic heat is muchsmaller than the ductwork used inforced air systems. This not onlyprovides more usable space for theoccupants, but offers much moreflexibility when designing buildings ormajor renovations. Future layoutchanges, such as enlarging therooms and moving partitions can bemuch more easily accomplished.

• QUIET: Hydronic finned-tuberadiation systems have no largefans, but deliver hot water to theindividual zones by quiet, remotepumps. Without ductwork, there is noconduit to carry the system’s fannoise and other sounds throughoutthe building.

• CLEAN: Hydronic perimeter heatingsystems are cleaner and healthier. Thereis no ductwork and fans to redistributedirt, odors, and germs through abuilding’s forced air system.

• ECONOMICAL: The pump energyrequired in hydronic perimeter systems ismuch less than that required for fans inforced air systems. The amount ofenergy to distribute the same amount ofheat in forced air systems is typically 10times greater than that needed for thepumps in a hydronic perimeter system.

Forced air systems also havesignificant heat loss and leakage in theduct system, while there is no leakageand much less heat loss through hydronicpiping. Additional savings can be realizedwith the use of outdoor air reset controlswhich are easily applied on hydronicperimeter systems.

• FUEL OPTIONS: Because hydronicperimeter systems employ boilers astheir source of heat, the system canusually use any energy source includinggas, oil, electric, solid fuel or solar. Theboiler used to provide the hot waterheating can also be used for other dutiesin the building including domestic hotwater heating, snow melting, swimmingpool heating, etc.

• DEDICATED HEATING: A single systemthat both heats and cools must havecompromises designed in. Deliveringheat from below and allowing the heat torise is much more comfortable andpreferable to overhead heating, which ismore appropriate for cooling systems.Any additional expenses required toinstall dedicated separate systems forheating and cooling is paid with greatercomfort and operating efficiency. Fordedicated heating, hydronic perimeterheat is the best choice.

• QUALITY: Sterling finned-tuberadiation is built to last. Internalwelded gussets integrate with andsupport the enclosure. Ball bearingelement supports are nylon isolatedto eliminate the transition of noisedue to expansion and contraction.Aluminum or steel fins aremechanically bonded throughexpansion to copper or steel tubing,ensuring quiet operation, long life,and maximum heat transfer. All paintfinishes are oven baked.
