Institute at a glanceInstitute at a glance
The Research Institute for Cryogenic & IsotopicTechnologies focuses on the creation and application of new
knowledge relevant to the topics associated to Isotopes and
Cryogenics especially related to Hydrogen. In particular, the institute
conducts basic and applied research of value creation and business
logic; business relations; organization and management; andcapabilities and competencies within industrial project businesses in
segments as Hydrogen isotope separations, ( especially related to
nuclear energy fission and fusion), Hydrogen-based energy,
environmental studies and isotope-based food & feed investigations.
All of the institute's projects involve close co-operation betweenits analysts and researchers and practitioners in industry, ensuring that
new knowledge is translated into industry practice.

The Institutes missionThe Institutes mission
The mission ofIC&IT is to create and implement
new knowledge within the national
and international project business for
practitioners and the scientificcommunity alike. To fulfill this
mission, our institute
conducts experimental and
technological research projects that
seek to answer questions arising
from our business partners'
strategies and from the scientific
community.

Institute for Cryogenics and Isotope
Technologies traces its roots to isotopic physics
research related to the developing of the Heavy-
Water production technologies, at Rm.Valcea
around the time of 70. The research staff has hada tradition of research into fundamental aspects of
isotopic physics and chemistry, including all the
necessary aspects from analysis to separation
methods. Once this task has been accomplished,
( the Heavy-Water plant has been build and
currently produces from 1988) the research andinstrumental development has been oriented onto
new area of isotopes technologies and
applications. The major emphasis of the current
experimental isotopic physics research is in
hydrogen study, centred on the experimental pilot
facilities for Deuterium and Tritium separation.

R&D ExpertiseR&D Expertise
In keeping with the philosophy of Romanian Research
Authority, we always strive to mitigate the technological gap between
Romania and Western European countries. We believe that being actively
involved in international partnership and showing a continuously increasing
research potential is essential to support Romanias technological and
social problem identification/problem solving style of culture and education. It is recognized that IC&IT has the following functions in order to conduct
and participate into innovative research and to contribute to the
development of Romanian society, especially in the field of energy
Promotion of joint-research and investigation with Romanian and
European research organizations as well as contract researchers Promoting and implementing new technologies in Romania directly or
via our traditional business partners
Promoting publication and practical utilization of research results

National Hydrogen &
Fuel Cell Centre
The new Hydrogen Research Centre
has the mission of deepen scientific
knowledge of the Hydrogen & Fuel
Cell chemical and physical processes
and is trying to bring together
technology and expertise in order to
provide a platform for new business
development into this new energy
field in Romania.
National Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Centre is the body charged
by National Authority for Scientific Research with developing and implementing
new technologies related to the new Hydrogen energy. The Centre has been
created officially in 2008 through a large direct financial investment, but based
on a prior experience of the National Research & Development Institute for
Isotope and Cryogenic Technology staff in working with hydrogen.
