TheHydraulic Setting Tool is a pressure-activated setting

tool used to set wireline retrievable plugs, permanent

packers, bridge plugs, cement retainers or other types of

completion equipment. The setting tool is connected to the

end of the tubing string and run to depth.

Pressuring up the tubing string activates the hydraulic

pistons. The force multiplies as the pressure passes througheach piston stage, providing the needed force to set the

downhole equipment. Once the equipment is set, the ports of

the setting tool are open, allowing the well to be pressure

tested or circulated and providing pressure equalization of

the tubing/annulus prior to retrieval of the tubing string.

Features

Multiple stage pistons eliminate high-activation pressures.

Can be run with jointed tubing or coiled tubing.

Easy field service.

Installation/Setting

Procedure

Note

Inspect all O-Rings and replace ShearScrews on the Hydraulic Setting Tool

after each run to ensure effectiveoperation.

NoteInspect Pistons prior to tool assemblyand ensure there is no blockage ofthe port holes.

Note

*Use the tables on thepreceding pages todetermine the number of

cylinders required for youroperation.

1 Apply grease and installtwo (2) O-Rings into each

Cylinder sections.

NoteInspect all O-Ring grooves duringinstallation and clean as required.

2 Apply grease and installO-Rings onto Pistons.

3 Place Top CylinderHousing in vise.

8 Insert Lower Pistonpartially into the last

Cylinder. The Lower Piston is

easy to identify: it has a slot

at the bottom and no port

holes.

9 Grease threads onAdapter and slide over Lower

Piston. Screw Adapter onto

bottom Cylinder.

10 Slide Mandrel overthe Piston, with the notched

end pointing out the bottom

of the tool and into the

Adapter.

NoteKeep the slots on the Mandrel andPiston aligned during this procedure.

11 Slide the LockRing over the Mandrel with

the screw hole end toward

the bottom of the tool.

12 Slide the Sleeveover the Mandrel with the

screw holes pointing in to the

tool.

NoteKeep the slots on the Mandrel, Pistonand Sleeve aligned during thisprocedure.

13 Insert the LockingBlock into the slots of the

Sleeve, Mandrel and Lower

Piston.
