Hyacinth Macaws or Blue Macaws,as they are usually known ,are very social birds and usually seen in pairs.They are most active from morning to mid-afternoon and fly in groups of two to eight and from the feeding grounds. After feeding they return home to their roosting trees around sunset and spend the night there.

Food Habits:Granivore(seeds,grains & nuts)and also eat mollusks.Reproduction:Blue macaws are dioecious(sexes separate),monogamous,oviparous,year-round breeding and reach sexual maturity in 6 to 10 years.Lifespan/Longevity:38-80 years(wild) . Their lifespan isestimate around 50 years.

The geographic range of blue macaws is from lower Central America to about halfway down the South American Continent and is concentrated south of the Amazon River.They live in a variety of habitats , including deciduous woodland,”cerrado” & palm groves and the palm-savannas of the Pantanal(in southern Brazil).
