The HX9500 SONET/SDH-PDH is a
Hybrid Multi-Service Access Multi-
plexer with STM-1/4 - OC-3/12 optical
lines aggregate and HS tributaries and
a non-blocking VC11/VC12/VC3/VC4
cross-connect together with a PDH
DS0 cross-connect or DACS with Low
Speed tributary modules.
The 6U shelf delivers:
- 4 High Speed tributary module slots
- 6 Low Speed tributary module slots
With up to 4 aggregate optical STM-
1/4 - OC-3/12 or electrical STM-1/OC-
3 line interfaces, the HX9500 SONET/
SDH offers service providers a versa-
tile protection scheme including
UPSR/SNCP and MSP(1+1) protection
for both ring and linear network topolo-
gies. It can operate with the HX9100
and HX9400 multiplexers in the same
topology.
The HS tributary modules include opti-
cal STM-1/4 - OC-3/12, E3/T3, E1/T1
interfaces and Fast Ethernet over
STM-1/4 - OC-3/12. Fast Ethernet sig-
nals are mapped into the SONET - SDH
payload through standard techniques
such as GFP, LAPS, VCAT and LCAS.
These HS modules are the same mod-
els for the HX9400 SONET-SDH multi-
plexer.

DESCRIPTION
The LS tributary modules are connected
through a full non-blocking DS0 cross-
connect matrix so delivering an inte-
grated mini DACS system.
All interfaces are fully compliant with the
relevant ITU ETSI and ANSI standards.
The hybrid SONET/SDH-PDH provides full
Operation, Administration, Maintenance
and Provisioning (OAM&P) functionalities.
Users can easily operate the HX9500R
locally or remotely for centralized man-
agement together with HX9400R,
QX3440/S/D and different product of
CXR ranges with CXRview-Plus (EMS) and
CXR-iNMS (integrated NMS).

The HX9500R structure with two CPU/Aggregate HX9400R-CC5 give it the possibility to deploy
different topologies of SDH aggregates and tributaries. This configuration support 2 SNCP ring
STM1/4 or 2 MSP 1+1 or one SNCP + MSP (1+1) STM1/4 ring with 4 fibers or 4 independent
STM1/4 .
Each interface STM1 or STM4 are independent and can be selected by the selection of optical
module or the settling for multi-rate SFP module.
