Hunger Walk Challenge Taking a Walk and Giving a Walk
Pastor Mark Beatty and Holy Trinity Lutheran Church have challenged us to “Take a Walk” at the Hunger Walk. Holy Trinity Lutheran is up to 35 participants taking a walk and have given $3,500 so far.
LCR is up to 22 participants taking a walk and have given $3,000 so far. We can catch Holy Trinity but need your help!
As a bonus, LCR’s Endowment Team is matching all donations up to $2,500. So go online right now to sign up to Walk or to make a Financial Donation online. You can also write a check made out to LCR with a memo of “Hunger Walk” and drop it in the offering plate.
You can also “Give a Walk” by giving much needed socks for homeless people in our community. New or gently used dark colored socks can be dropped off at the Hunger Walk display in the Narthex. This Lent: Study the Walk Take a Walk Give a Walk

Mid-Week Lenten Worship
For the fourth year in a row, LCR is teaming up with our sister congregations of Lutheran Church of the Incarnation and Holy Trinity Lutheran Church for Mid-Week Lenten Worship.
Holy Trinity Lutheran Church (2922 Sandy Plains Rd) is hosting the noon worship services and Pastor Stephen got to preach there on Wednesday, March 4th. LCR is
hosting the 7pm worship services.
It is a gift to be able to work and worship together as the church. Each pastor will preach one of the Wednesdays in Lent at both Holy Trinity and at LCR.
Youth
Our Affirmation of Baptism
(Confirmation) Program met last
Sunday to study Luther’s explanations
to the Ten Commandments. Hear what
Luther wrote about the third
commandment, “Remember the
sabbath day and keep it holy.”
We are to fear and love God, so that
we neither despise preaching or God’s word, but instead
keep that word holy and gladly hear and learn it.

Children
The modern English word for “worship”
comes from an Old English word, woerthship
(or worth-ship). Worthship suggests
something or someone is recognized as
worthy of honor. (p21, The Walk)
Ask the children in your life about how they
see our whole church recognize God as
worthy of honor in Sunday worship.

Music
In Pr. Adam Hamilton’s book, “The Walk,” he
identifies several examples of early Christian
worship recorded in the book of Acts, all of
which are done together (prayer, singing,
communion, scriptural reflection, etc).
He writes, “Notice that these were all things
that believers were offering to God and with
one another. Worship was not something
believers attended. It was not something they
watched. It was something they did. They did not gather to be
entertained, but to respond to God’s love and grace with
praise and gratitude, offering themselves to God and seeking
to bless others. The pastors, musicians, and liturgists are not
performers on a stage hoping to entertain the congregation.
They are offering themselves to God to lead people in
authentic worship, seeking to bless God and to be used by
God to draw the worshipers to God. (p25, The Walk).”
The same is true for us at LCR.

Outreach
Greetings to all of you from Pr. Karen Castillo, the Pastor President of ILAG. Last week our delegation was received warmly by our friends and partners in Guatemala
at Santasima Trinidad Lutheran Church and the MILAGRO Women’s Center. As Pastor Karen suggests, the delegation does have good stories to share with the congregation and will make a presentation during dinner on Wednesday, March 18th. Pray for our partners in Guatemala and their Lenten journey.
