HUMANITY

Humanity means that humankind shall be treated humanely in all circumstances by saving lives and relieving suffering, while ensuring respect for the individual.

HUMANITARIAN

One who is devoted to the promotion of human welfare and the advancement of social reforms; A philanthropist or Humanitarian is :1. having concern for or helping to improve the welfare and happiness of people.2. Refer to the saving of human lives or to the relief of suffering : a humanitarian crisis.3. A person actively engaged in promoting human welfare and social reforms, as a philanthropist.

Here are some International and Pakistani Humanitarians :

ADBUL SATTAR EDHI

Adbul Sattar Edhi is running a foundation “ Edhi Foundation” which is managing network of world’s largest private ambulance service.

He is a global personality and a recipient of awards like Lenin Peace Prize, Ramon Magsaysay Award (also termed as Asia’s Nobel Price), Nishan-e-Imtiaz (Pakistan’s highest civil award) as well as honorary PhDs from IBA Karachi and University of Bedfordshire, UK.

Edhi is not alone in his struggle as his wife, Bilquis Edhi has stood by him all along and has worked equally hard to make his noble cause a success.  

MOTHER TERESA Mother Teresa was the founder of the Order of the Missionaries of Charity. She was dedicated to helping the poor. Begun in Calcutta, India, the Missionaries of Charity grew to help the poor, the dying, orphans, lepers, and AIDS sufferers in over a hundred countries. Mother Teresa's selfless effort to help those in need has caused many to regard her as a model humanitarian

IMRAN KHAN

He is regarded as one of the best captains in cricket history. Climax of his career came of March 25, 1992 when he lifted Cricket World Cup for Pakistan.

Imran Khan created an international standard medical center “Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital & Research Center” dedicated to research and treatment of cancer patients. After retiring from sport, he entered politics and formed his own party, the Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf (Pakistan Justice Movement). He is a regular commentator on cricket.

ANSAR BURNEY 

Syed Ansar Ahmed Burney, was the first man to introduce true human rights in Pakistan over 25 years ago.Ansar Burney is the founder and chairman of Ansar Burney Trust. He is an authority on human rights in Pakistan and the Middle East. He has received over 200 awards and medals from home and abroad. On the 23rd March 2002, he was conferred Pakistan’s National Civil Award "Sitar-i-Imtiaz", the first in the history of Pakistan in the field of human rights.

NELSON MANDELA

 Nelson Mandela, was born in the Eastern Cape of South Africa.

Mandela was the most famous anti-racist politician of South Africa. He devoted his entire life for the cause and served 27 years in prison for his political views. He was the first black South African president to be in Office and he lead from 1994 to 1999. He attempted to create peace and harmony among the black and white communities of South Africa.

He has received more than 250 awards including the 1993 Nobel Peace Prize, the U.S. Presidential Medal of freedom and Soviet Order of Lenin.

 

A young singer who achieved national success in his early 20s.Shehzad Roy established 'Zindagi trust' and raised funds for helping poor children in order to provide them better educational opportunities than ordinary government schools. He has also extended its services in the disasters like Earthquakes and floods which hit Pakistan recently.He has become one of the youngest recipients of Hilal-i-Imtiaz conferred to him by Government of Pakistan. He has also received many other international honors.

SHEHZAD ROY

MALALA YOUSAFZAI

Malala Yousafzai is a Pakistani school pupil and spokesperson for women's right to education. In retaliation for her high profile campaign for education and criticism of the Taliban, she was shot in the head at close range by a Taliban gunman. She survived the gunshot wound and has become a leading spokesperson for human rights, education and women's rights. She has received numerous peace awards, and was the youngest person to be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2013.
