Hugo Nájera, Chief Innovation Officer of BBVA, is responsible for spearheading innovation in BBVA through creating new products and services which help the bank to take up a position in key areas for its future strategy. With the focus firmly on the customer, Najera promotes initiatives geared towards securing a leading position in areas of the multi- channel experience, new payment channels and w holesale banking and asset management, while also developing projects in the fields of Branchless Banking, Big Data and Open Platforms. Most of Hugo Nájera’s professional career has been spent in BBVA Bancomer in Mexico. He began his career working above all in investment banking and in investment advisory services. In 2000, Nájera joined the Business Development teams of Retail Banking in Mexico, where he faced new challenges such as developing alternative channels for relations with customers, and was responsible for the innovation department. In 2010, Nájera moved to the BBVA head office in Madrid to take over responsibility for innovation and business development in his position as Chief Innovation Officer. Most of Hugo Nájera’s professional career has been spent in BBVA Bancomer in Mexico. He began his career working above all in investment banking and in investment advisory services.
