Climate Description

Hudson Island is placed in the middle of Hudson Bay, which is 60N and 87W. On Hudson Island, we have a tundra climate which means that we have brief , cool summers and long, cold winters. Since we are in the middle of Hudson Bay, there are no major currents flowing past our island so we don’t have much difference in temperature. The north end of our island is partly covered by mountains and is the source to the many rivers down south. We have rivers flowing through all the major cities such as St. Kevin, Ugava Port and Churchill Port. And because we have mountains in the north, we have less wind coming from there.

Since our climate is tundra, we have little rain, we only have 6cm of rain per month on the wettest part. In the winter, all there is, is 1cm of snow per month. As I said before, tundra climates have short, cool summers and long, cold winters.The average temperature for summer is 2-12 Celsius and the winter is (-)25-0 Celsius

Climate Concerns

In Northern Canada, a lot of our icecaps are melting, we are disrupting the ocean, wind, and temperature patterns. This may lead to a destruction of the ecosystem and atmosphere.

Agriculture, Aquaculture, and Livestock

In Northern Canada we have little arable land meaning that we aren’t able to plant many crops, but on Hudson Island we are famous for our fishery exports (aquaculture). As for our agriculture, we are able to plant wheat and barley in our little arable land.
