A Network with concrete actions

Efficient 20 was designed to encourage farmers and foresters to contribute to reach the target set by the European Union of 20% energy savings compared to the projections by 2020.

32 pilot groups in 9 different countries implemented fuel saving actions

A European communication campaign allowed speaking loud about fuel savings

Tractor manufacturers, agricultural schools and farming organisations were invited to join the network

Background

The focus was put on fuel oil used in farming machinery, which represents more than 50% of the energy consumed in agriculture

The agricultural operations are complex, fuel consumptions are not well known

Making savings as attractive as renewable energy production was our challenge!

Final results

Objective : 20% fuel savings in pilot groups at the end of the project

Results : the comparative tests run in pilot groups show that savings between 5 and 40% can be achieved, according to the solution tested

34 eco-driving sessions have taken place, often in partnership with tractor manufacturers

61 Associate members, including manufacturers and dealers

99 demonstrations and advertising in fairs and open days
