n Must declare a major n More important than ever that this is right

in the system because of funding impact. n When you add degrees, make sure you

show correct current major. For example, moving from MSE BLL to EdS Leadership.

n  All EDL candidates are required to maintain up-to-date contact information with the EDL office.

n  This form is very brief. n  The primary point of contact for updating information is

EDL Entrance Interview EDL Candidates All HSU EDL candidates are

required to complete the ONLINE Entrance Interview form.

EDL Entrance Interview Guidelines

n  All EDL candidates are required to complete an EDL Entrance Interview to be admitted into the various EDL programs of study.

n  This form will take a few minutes to complete. n  Please use this link to complete your EDL Entrance

Candidacy Form

n Every EDL candidate must have a candidacy form.

n This form serves as your “degree plan.” n  Every degree and every program of study

has a degree plan. n You will find these forms on “My

Henderson” under the A-Z menu, Teachers College, Educational Leadership

Candidacy Form n  These forms are listed on the Educational

Leadership site along with information about various degrees and course rotations for each semester.

n  You may study the course rotations for your degree and fill out your form or

n  Dr. Judi Jenkins and Mrs. Brenda Driggers will help you with your candidacy forms.

n  These are signed by you, your advisor, Dr. Jenkins, and Dr. Kenneth Taylor, Graduate Dean

Candidacy forms n  Your candidacy form will help you stay on track

and know exactly when you will graduate. n  They are not set in stone, but you need to

contact Dr. Jenkins at jenkinj@hsu.edu if you want to make changes.

n  Copies of these forms are kept in the EDL office and in the graduate office.

n  For graduation, your candidacy form is checked by the graduate office for your degree requirements.

Candidacy Forms

n Once you complete one program of study POS) or degree and wish to enter another, you will need to, again, fill out a candidacy form for that POS or degree.

n Then you will contact Educational Leadership and make sure that a copy of this new form is in the EDL office.

n Also, contact Mrs. Yvette Bragg, braggy@hsu.edu, about the addition of another POS or degree.

Tk20

n Every EDL candidate must buy a one time subscription to Tk20.

n  Tk20 is the official assessment and portfolio software system of Teachers College, Henderson. Program-required key assessments, portfolios, projects, work samples, applications required for program admission and field experience, and data related to professional testing and certification are all collected, processed, and archived through the university’s Tk20 secure portal.

n Once you own your subscription: n 1. Log in to myhenderson.hsu.edu and

select “Courses I Take.” n 2. Select Tk20 located on the left menu. n 3. Select “Click here to go to Tk20 n 4. Welcome to Tk20.

n To open an assignment, you may click on its title under the Pending Tasks section located in the center of your screen.

n Or, click on the flag icon in the upper right corner of the page to open an overview Pending Tasks.

Tk20-Tips

n  You can access Tk20 Help Guides at any time by clicking on the Help button located on the top right of the screen.

n  We recommend using the latest versions of these browsers for an optimal user experience: Google, Apple Safari, Mozilla Firefox

n  DO NOT use the back button (Navigate using the tabs and menus in TK20.)

n  DO NOT sign into Tk20 in multiple tabs and windows

INTERNSHIP BINDER

n Completed during your mentorship or internship experience at the end of your coursework

n Binder and rubrics are located in Tk20 n Hours for internship documented including

mentoring hours, standards activities hours, and selected class field experiences.

Binder Contents n Standards Activities—130 hours of

activities—40 hours on standards 5 and 6 required—90 hours of choice on standards 1-4

n Mentoring—45 hours with district mentor or building level mentors (elementary and secondary level)

n Selected Class Field Experiences—42 hours

n Action Research Project may be included

17 Reflections

n EDL candidate interns are required to complete 17 reflections of learning on the same 17 standards elements required in the exit presentation.

n These reflections will be scored by the internship/mentorship instructor and can be used by the candidate to help create the exit presentation.

EXIT PRESENTATIONS

n Option of video presentation rather than on Collaborate

n Mentors have to be present or watch video n Presentation consists of introduction of

self, 17 standards elements, closing reflection of learning

n May use any presentation software or video format that will upload to TK20

EXIT PRESENTATIONS

n Presentation should be a minimum of 30 minutes

n Mentors and EDL faculty will evaluate presentation using rubric

n Presentation must be sent to advisor and internship/mentorship instructor for approval before presentation or creation of video

SAMPLE CONTENT n  Standard Element 1.1: Candidates understand and can

collaboratively develop, articulate, implement, and steward a shared vision of learning for a school.

n  Artifact: Vision Walk from EDL 6223 Supervision and Leadership—Dr. Jenkins

n  Reflection: Participating in a vision walk through the elementary school with the principal, counselor, two teachers, a parent, and a community member created an understanding of the importance of intentionality when it comes to the visioning process. The value of stakeholder involvement became evident in the vision. Good leaders involve others in creating a vision, walking and talking the vision, using the vision for decision-making, and revisiting the vision when changes are needed.

EXIT PRESENTATIONS

n  If candidate chooses video option it will be due no later than last Monday of November in the fall semester and last Monday of April in the spring semester.

n  If candidate chooses to do live presentation on Collaborate, it will be scheduled during the last few weeks of the semester.

n Exits are required for completion of program or degree.

GRADUATION

n The deadlines for applying for graduation are set for both fall and spring.

n Degree earning candidates are encouraged to participate in graduation ceremony.

n A reception is held to honor graduates following the graduation ceremony.

n EDL graduates are expected to attend the reception.

Ed.S. Candidates

n Ed.S. candidates are hooded during the graduation ceremony by their assigned advisors.

n Ed.S. candidates are strongly urged to keep eyes and ears open for Henderson’s future Ed.D. degree program.
