•  HSDPA users get resources if available on the air
interface, i.e. CS and PS Streaming users have priority
•  Data rate for PS Interactive/Background Rel. 99 users can
be restricted
•  Core network is not aware of using HSDPA

HSDPA Power Setup
• Event A: First MAC-d flow entering the cell
PtxNC<=PtxtargetHSDPA
-> HS-DSCH is selected, otherwise DCH scheduling.
• When HSDPA power is in use: PtxNC target is Ptxtarget. NRT DCH scheduling upto PtxtargetHSDPA.
• Event B:
• Event C:
PtxnonHSDPA>=PtxtargetHS DPA+PtxoffsetHSDPA
- No more NRT DCHs, all MAC-d flows in the cell are released A

Considered downlink associated channel
(max 16 user, so 16 x 1 CE = 16 CE)
32 + 16 = 48 CE

3. Associated-DPCH (SF128)
Current implemented : 5 Code HS PDSCH with SF 16 and 1 Code HS SCCH with SF 128
According Code Tree property, the codes below HS PDSCH will blocked
This will introduces addition code tree usages by
1. ~36.% with 5 Codes
2. ~30% with 4 codes
3. ~22% with 3 codes
4. ~14% with 2 codes
5. ~7% with 1 codes

• Monitor the performances of HSDPA 3.6Mbps application throughput for a single user in indoor and incar location (stationary)
• Comparison between FTP (Nokia Server) and HTTP download application throughput
• Test performed in 2 locations:
• Indoor: McDonald - serving by Ora Et Labora Site (Sector 2, distance 600m)
• Incar: close to site (50m)
• HSDPA 3.6 (16QAM, 5 codes) Datacards used:
• 1 Novotel Merlin XU870 (connected to Nemo Outdoor)

• Download:
• via FTP: 46MB file located in FTP Server after Firewall
• Via HTTP: 379MB file located in public home page ( http://games.softpedia.com)

•Indoor location shows no particular difference in application throughput between
HTTP and FTP, (1.8- 2 Mbps, RSCP -95 dBm, )
•In good radio conditions (RSCP  – 60 dBm) FTP shows its max achievable
application throughput (3.2 Mbps), but HTTP can reach max 2 Mbps
•The difference is related to the location of the HTTP server and the performances of
the routers after Firewall (out of control)
•Different HTTP web sites can present big variations on application throughputs
• Also tested web site: www.pctools.com (location USA); downloaded file Spyware at
an average application throughput of only 400 Kbps

HSDPA Layering Strategy
Strategy 1: F0 = R99 Traffic , F1 = R99 Traffic&HSDPA Traffic
Strategy 2: F0 = R99 Traffic, F1 = HSDPA Traffic

For internal use
Strategy 1: F0 = R99 Traffic , F1 = R99 Traffic&HSDPA Traffic
• Strategy1: SFR SET2 configuration improved (SET2 v2)
•  All the Ue Rel5,Rel6 will be transferred to f1 HSDPA frequency (HSPA Layer) and for all services. R5,R6 Rel Ue PS/CS traffic transferred to f1 HSDPA frequency according to the DRRC for HSDPA Parameter.
• R99 and Rel-4 Ue  non HSxPA cell
• Rel5 Ue CS/PS service  HSxPA cell
• Re6 Ue CS/PS service  HSxPA cell
• Cell_FACH  – Cell_DCH or Cell_PCH  – Cell_DCH transition  HSxPA cell

Strategy 2: F0 = R99 Traffic, F1 = HSDPA Traffic • Strategy2: f1 Layer dedicated to HSxPA traffic.
•  All the Ue Rel5,Rel6 with Establishment cause: background or Interractive are transferred to f1 HSDPA frequency (HSxPA Layer). The Rel99 CS & PS traffic, Rel5 Rel6 CS traffic stay in f0 frequency.
• R99 and Rel-4 Ue CS/PS service  non HSxPA cell
• Rel5 Rel6 CS Service (Establishment cause : Conversational)  non HSxPA cell
• Rel5 Rel6 PS Service((Establishment cause : back or Int)  HSxPA cell
• Cell_FACH  – Cell_DCH or Cell_PCH  – Cell_DCH transition  HSxPA cell
