Dear Parents,
Welcome to the month of November. I hope that you were able to take at least a few days over the school
holiday for some well deserved rest and relaxation. The week before the break was certainly action packed
with parent teacher conferences and our annual Filipinana celebration. The quality of our student organized
performances always amazes me and this year was no exception. If you missed the highlights of the HS
performance there will be a repeat of one or two of the items as the opening act to the ISM 90 th anniversary
celebration featuring Rex Navarette. Tickets are available for this show to be held in the ISM FAT on
Thursday November 11th. The cost is Php 500.
I try to use this bulletin space to update you on school events and significant issues within the high school,
however today I need to resort to some administrative functions. First I want to make a plug for updatingyour demographic information in PowerSchool. Every time we send out a mass email we get approximately
50 returned emails. We work on correcting these contacts but still dont appear to make significant
improvements on our success rate. Can I please urge you to log into PowerSchool and make the changes
directly in the database. My second issue is that each semester we uncover students who have been left
home alone. This might be for a few nights, a few weeks, a few months or for the entire year! If it is of a
short term nature, (under a month), then there is a process to follow to notify the HS Office in advance,
stating who will be responsible for the student(s) and whom the school can contact in case of emergency.
This notification needs to be in written form. If for an extended period of time, Board policy requires at
least one parent to be permanently residing with their child while the child is enrolled at ISM. If this is not
possible then a Guardianship Agreement must be filled in and approved by the school.
Now for the fun stuff! Real Club are surfing in Zambales this weekend, SATs are on tomorrow, Saturdayservice continues with a GK build tomorrow, Grade 9 geography fieldtrip on Monday, HS Academic Bowl on
Wednesday and then the 90th anniversary celebrations at the end of next week, along with IASAS MUN in
Singapore.
Phew we will need a weekend after all that!
Kind regards,
Mr. William R.S. Brown

ISTA FESTIVAL:ISM is excited to be hosting this years ISTA Middle School Theatre Festival! The International Schools TheatreAssociation (ISTA) facilitates two MS festivals each year in Asia, which provide an amazing opportunity forinternational students from around the world to engage in new theatrical experiences and to develop skills that will
deepen their passion for performance. As a school, ISM has been a proud supporter and participator of ISTA, and wenow have the opportunity to give the participants an experience they will never forget! We will be hosting the first everMusical Theatre ISTA festival, and we are very excited about welcoming other international students to the Philippinesand to our wonderful school.
The ISM ISTA Festival will take place November 19-21 (Friday to Sunday), and will involve as many as 100 studentsfrom other countries, as well as our own ISM participants. As with any event, the whole ISM community has theopportunity to get involved in this Middle School event. The most significant way for the ISM community to getinvolved is to provide housing for the visiting students. If you are able to host some students, you may contact theATAC Office and/or the Fine Arts Office at [email protected] and/or [email protected] . Most guests willarrive on November 18
thand will depart on either November 21
