    addition ina fewweeks the second season IASAS tournamentswillbeheld for tennis, swimming,

    basketball,rugbyandtouch.

    Message from the Superintendent:DearParents:

    Itsthelastweekofschool.Wevehadanamazingsemester,andIwanttoplaceonrecordmythankstoourteachers,

    TAsand

    support

    staff.

    Ive

    seen

    some

    wonderful

    teaching

    and

    learning

    in

    my

    visits

    to

    the

    classrooms,

    and

    our

    activities

    programsseemtogetbettereveryyear.Wearealreadyhearinggreatnewsaboutearlyadmissionsandscholarships

    forourSeniors,andwehaveeveryreasontoexpectmorepositivefeedbackintheNewYear.

    Asyouknow, Itrytoputouttheannualschoolcalendaras far inadvanceas Ipossiblycan.Parentsclamorforthis

    information tohelp them in theirvacationplanning. Ihadhoped thatweweremovingaway fromwhat,at times,

    seemed tobeaquite cavalierattitude towarddeclaringholidays.Wewere initially toldquite clearly thatholidays

    wouldbescheduledontheirexactdatewhich inonesense is lessconvenientfortheschool,becausetheywillat

    times fall inmidweek and thus disturb the rhythm and routine of learning, but in anotherwaywould benefit us

    becausesomeholidayswouldfallattheweekendsandthusmeanfewerdaysofftointerrupttheschoolyear.

    VeryquicklywesawsomeslippageinthisdeclaredpolicywhenEidulAdhawhichfellonaSundayNovember6th

    becameatthelastminuteapublicholidayonMondayNovember7th.Wearestillinthedarkaboutwhatwillhappen

    in2013,whenEidulFitr fallsonSundayAugust19th. In themeantime,wehavenow seenanewly createdpublic

    holiday forChineseNew YearonMonday January 23rd. (In 2013 theofficialdate forChineseNew Year is Sunday

    February10thandwhoknowswhatwillhappenthen!)

    Ihavebeenadvised thatweareobliged to take January23rd 2012ChineseNewYearasa schoolholiday,and

    meanwhileIamcurrentlyrecastingthe2012/13calendartotrytotakeintoaccountthesenewfactors(andfoibles)

    KAWAYAN PHOTOS (Yearbook Photos):For those who ordered student photos from Tino Ley, thephotos are now ready for pick up in the HS Office. If youwill send a representative to claim the photos on behalfof the student please send an authorization letter toallow them to claim on your behalf. Thank you.

    REPORT CARDS:Report Cards will be ready for pick up by Tuesday,January 24 at the HS Office. If you are unable to come

    and pick up the report, you may send your representativewith an authorization letter to claim it on your behalf.We will not release any report cards without anauthorization letter. Report cards that are not claimedby 3pm Friday, January 27, will be sent home through thestudents during their homeroom class on Mondayafternoon (January 30). For any questions or concerns,please call the HS Office.*Powerschool will be open for Parents and Students toview grades by Friday, January 20.

    FROM THE COUNSELING CENTER:

    PSAT Score Reports Are In

    All students who took the PSAT test in October should have received their score reports and test booklets from

    their counselors this week. Students who did not attend the meetings to receive their scores and test booklet

    should see their counselor as soon as possible.

    Additionally, a brief explanation of how to read the score report was shared with students. Any students wh

    have individual questions about their scores should make an appointment to talk to their counselor.

    For parents, CollegeBoard provides various resources to help you better understand the scores. You may want t

    of

    various

    styles from thepast50years. BandAid isadynamicand

    generating money for an excellent cause. Tickets can be

    All Choirs Concert: January 17 at 5:30 pm in theFAT

    Please come and join our Middle School choirs, HSConcert Choir and HS Show Choir for an evening of

    song. Last year, the all Choirs concert was so popularwe almost burst the walls of the Little Theatre, so thisyear we have moved this very popular event to the FATto allow the audience to be more comfortable. Thisyear we will also have special guests performing withthe ISM Choirs: The Capella, the Concert Choir fromCalvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. TheCapella is composed of advanced singers from allareas of study and takes part in an international toureach year. This year they are on an Asian Tour visitingHong Kong, China, Singapore and The Philippines!The choir director, Dr. Joel Navarro and members of

    IASAS RUGBY/TOUCH HOUSING: The next fantastic ISMSpecial event is on the horizon. We host rugby/touch Feb 1-5, 2012 and 140 athletes require housing for this event. Allrugby and touch athletes have been given a housing letter atpractice and I would also make a request for all athletes thatwere housed in Singapore.we need your support toreciprocate the hospitality given to you by housing for IASASRugby/Touch. The housing letter can be accessed via theATAC blog or there is a link to it on the IASAS Rugby/Touchpage. Housing letters are due in now! Please return theseasap so the housing can be confirmed for all our guestswho will arrive on Feb 1st.
