The origin of Zalman Shazar, third president of Israel (1963-1973) is in Hrubieszow. Hence his original name: Shneor Zalman Rubashow.

Yosef Almogi (Krelenboim) was born in Hrubieszow, immigrated to Eretz Israel in 1930. Minister in the Israeli government (10th-15th Knesset), Mayor of Haifa (1974/75)
