FROM DAVID’S DESK…

All I Really Want For Christmas…

If you really want to know what I’d like for Christmas, here’s my Christmas list for Oakwood Park Christian Church:

1. I’d like to see us become all God wants us to be. A church that loves Him, lives for Him, honors and glorifies Him.

2. I’d like to see us become a holy church where every one of us is set apart for Him and Him alone. Where we set apart the first portion of every day, the first day of every week, the first portion of our income, the first word on every decision and the first place in our priorities - for Him!

3. I’d like to see us have all of our people participating in touching the lives of others with the love of Christ through some ministry here each week.

4. I’d like to see us have leaders at every level who lead by example. No exceptions. No excuses, just an enthusiastic example of what a true Christ-follower really looks like.

5. I’d like to see us become more of a praying church.

6. I’d like to see us growing and maturing in our walk with the Lord on an ever-increasing basis.

7. I’d like to see us reaching out more to the community around us with the love of Christ.

8. I’d like to see us become a church where EVERY member is present for EVERY Lord’s Day, EVERY week, unless they’re sick or out of town.

9. I’d like to see us grow in numbers enough in the near future that we need to hire a second full time staff member.

10. I’d like to see us get every person to be at least a tither of their income (giving 10% back to God) every week. Our giving has been good this past year, but just imagine the things we could do for God’s kingdom if every person actually tithed.

11. I’d like to see us become a church where everyone

is connected to someone, somehow, some way. Relationships are the glue that hold us all together.

12. I’d like to see us so full of God and so full of His Word that every service has the spirit of revival and the anointing of His Spirit upon us.

I’d like to see us become a church known for more than just the way we preach the gospel.

I’d like for us to be known and respected for the way we live it.

Throughout the month of December we will be opening Christmas Gifts From God in our new Christmas sermon series. These next few weeks would be a great time for you to invite a friend as we consider the

gifts of Jesus, Joy, Peace, and Purpose.

See you Sunday. Yours, and His,

Pastor David

“A Savior Is Born” Experience the Wonder of the First Christmas

Wednesday Evening @ 6:30 – November 14th – December 12th

Have you ever thought about the intricate details of the first Christmas? How Mary handled the startling message from the angel Gabriel? Why God sought fit to first appear to the lowly shep-herds, and choose a manger in Bethlehem? Or what it would have been like to stand before a multitude of angels?

God was intentional in every detail of his plan to bring his son into the world. Through Mary, an everlasting hope would come to the nations. Through the little town of Bethlehem, the birth of our Savior would become a reality and be our prince of peace. Through shepherds, God would exalt the humble and show us that He is the sovereign shepherd of love. Through angels, God would send good tidings of great joy that would come to all people, everywhere.

The humble events surrounding Christ’s birth glorify all that our Savior is. From the stable to the cross, He redeemed us from sin to give us life. Just as his birth introduced grace and redemption

for all people then, the invitation continues for us today. This undeserved gift is truly what the wonder of the first Christmas is all about!

Join us for these four Advent sessions in this inspirational video Bible study.

And the angel answered and said to her [Mary], “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will over-shadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.”

- Luke 1:35
