Configure HP BAC

For HP SiteScope to communicate/integrate with HP SaaS for HP BAC, the following two things need to be configured on HP BAC:

1. Create and configure an HP SiteScope Profile

2. Create a user with HP SiteScope Administrator Privileges on the SiteScope Profile

1. Create and configure an HP SiteScope profile Create a new HP SiteScope Profile from the BAC interface (Admin System

Availability Management “New SiteScope”).

Enter values in the “Main Settings” section of the new SiteScope screen:

SiteScope Display Name: This is the name of the SiteScope profile. Enter a descriptive name representing this SiteScope server.

Host Name: Enter the hostname or IP Address of the system running SiteScope.

Port Number: Enter the port number your SiteScope server is running on (default is 8888).

Inaccesible Profile: Use this box to create a profile for a SiteScope that is not currently accessible from HP Business Availability Center. Creating the profile in this way adds the profile name to the database but there is no connection to the SiteScope from HP Business Availability Center until actual registration from SiteScope..

2. Create a user with HP SiteScope Administrator Privileges From the HP BAC interface (Admin Platform Users and Permissions Create

User).

Then assign “SiteScope Administrator” role to this user and click on the Apply Permissions button to save settings - see next snapshot.

Note: As a best practice, it is strongly recommended that a HP BAC group be created with appropriate HP SiteScope privileges (SiteScope Administrator) and assign the newly created HP SiteScope user to that group.

Register HP SiteScope with HP SaaS

Perform the registration process using the steps below:

1. Open a browser and point to the Installed SiteScope. You will see the page below. Type “http://<SiteScope machine name or address>:8080/SiteScope” on your browser.

For example, http://localhost:8080/SiteScope. Login to SiteScope with your credentials.

This will bring you to the HP SiteScope Main View page.

2. Highlight and expand Preferences. Select Integration Preferences.

Click on the Edit button at the bottom of the page and fill in the form that appears on the right hand pane as follows:

Business Availability Center machine name/IP address: This should be provided to you by your technical account manager or NOC. It is a URL with the following format: <customer_name>.mercury-mms.com

SiteScope agent machine location: This can be any name that best describes your HP SiteScope instance.

Business Availability Center user name: This is the SiteScope user’s login name created in the previous section “Configure BAC.”

Business Availability Center user password: This is the password created for the SiteScope user in the previous section “Configure BAC.”

If any proxy is needed to access HP SaaS, you will need to configure the details in the Proxy Server Settings section on the same page.

If you want the communication between HP SiteScope and HP SaaS for HP BAC to be secure or encrypted, please check the “User SSL (HTTPS protocol)” box.

Finally, click “OK.”

Enable HP SiteScope monitor logging

By default, all monitors are set to log data to HP BAC. However, to either confirm that this option is the desired one for your requirements or to make changes to the default selection, do the following:

1. From the HP SiteScope Main View, select the “Monitors” tab. Navigate to the Monitors/ Groups section. Click the “+” icon to expand a group, and the “-” icon to collapse a group. Use the Filter Settings to display a filtered list of groups and monitors. Select the desired monitor and switch to the Properties pane on the right hand side.

2. Click on the Edit button in the Properties panel to edit settings. Expand the ‘HP BAC Logging’ section and select the preferred logging option. Click OK to save changes.

Page 15: HP SaaS SiS 9.5 Installation and Integration

Repeat above steps for all desired monitors to enable logging SiteScope data from these monitors to HP BAC.

Test/validate the integration

To verify that the HP SiteScope has been integrated with HP SaaS successfully, login to HP SaaS and run the “SiteScope Status Summary” Report” (APPLICATIONS System Availability Management SiteScope Over Time Reports Status Summary).

You should see a report similar to the screen shot below. You are now done with integration of HP SiteScope data with HP SaaS.

Congratulations! You have just completed the installation and integration of HP SiteScope with HP SaaS for HP BAC.

Note: If you have any questions/issues during this integration process, please contact NOC or your Technical Account Manager.
