packets, termination forms, and
many other HR system tasks.

providing insurance plans to our employees.

After a season of rapid development it’s good to take a break—especially if the break is with friends.
So...on a semi-hot day in May pre-schoolers and staff from the Immokalee Area gathered at a local water
park to let off steam, burn some calories, and sharpen water splashing skills.

We open doors to opportunity
RCMA Leaders Meet to Find and Share Their Treasures In May, Center Coordinators gathered to share and learn. They shared their knowledge and wis-dom with each other. They shared knowledge and wisdom that will ensure that even more doors of opportunity will open for children, parents and staff of RCMA. Being an RCMA Center Coordinator is a big job with big responsibilities. Yet, when the job suits one’s nature and when it is in alignment with one’s purpose, that job can be deeply rewarding and a stimulus for personal growth.

Me imaginaba
muchas fiestas, compra de vestidos de
fiesta, y preparándome para ir a la
universidad. Nunca pasó por mi mente
que mi último año consistiría en
cambiar pañales, lavar la ropa del bebé
y preparar botellas.
que he enfrentado.
dando a mi hijo.
Me
RCMA Lake Placid Teen Parent Shares
the Ups and Downs of Teen Parenting
By Amanda Dale
Everyone has their own idea of
how their senior year of high
school is going to be. I pictured
parties, shopping for prom
dresses, and getting ready to go
away to college. It never crossed
my mind that my senior year
would consist of changing
diapers, washing baby clothes and
making bottles.
The summer before my senior year, the unimaginable
happened to me, I became a teen parent. I didn’t know
what to expect, all I kept thinking was, “How could this
happen to me?” Being a teen parent is hard, it’s the
biggest challenge I have ever faced. The pressure of
homework and getting into college makes it even
harder! Having a son has changed my life immensely,
I’m so busy it’s hard to find the time to take a breath.
A child comes with a lot of responsibilities. It is my
responsibility as a parent to provide for my son and set a
good example. Going to college is the best thing I can
do for my son to make sure he has everything he needs.
I have to pay for diapers, baby food, child care, health
insurance, rent, clothes; the list is endless. Without the
help of my family, pursuing my education would be
impossible.
Being a teen parent causes others to look down upon
me and to question my parenting skills. Every young
mom wants to prove others wrong and show them that it
is possible to give their kid a good life, and not just
become another statistic.
My son is the best thing that has happened
to me. Waking up to his smiling face every
morning makes all the hard work I do for
him worth it. Having someone who loves
you so much and knowing you’re going to
spend the rest of your life with that person is
the best feeling in the world. I love being a
mom; I just wish it happened a few years down the road.
Special Note: Amanda graduated from the RCMA
Lake Placid Parent and Child Center in June 2011.

Alma was very special to me, We would call each other almost every day. It is not easy to write this few words without crying , Alma
always listened. She was soft-spoken and always willing to help the families. I really miss her! I went to visit her when she was ill, she
always had a smile and she would ask me about my son. She was very caring. I Love you Alma, I thank God, I was able to tell you that.
We will meet again Alma Ramirez. I love you. Marta Renteria-Florida City Area
Losing Alma was like losing a piece of the special sunshine that makes RCMA glow. She was such a wonderful example of treating
others as we want to be treated ourselves, and her kindness touched many hearts. May her family’s pain be lessened by knowing what a
difference she made in her life. Barbara Mainster

Alma was a special person. Alma had a special gift of caring for others and I am grateful I learned so much from her. I will miss her very much but I
will never forget her or her beautiful smile. Regina Sousa – System Administrator
This poem reminds me of Alma.
You can shed tears that she is gone, or you can smile because she has lived.
You can close your eyes and pray that she'll come back, or you can open your eyes and see all she's left.
Your heart can be empty because you can't see her, or you can be full of the love you shared.
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday, or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.
You can remember her only that she is gone, or you can cherish her memory and let it live on.
You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back.
Or you can do what she'd want: smile, open your eyes love and go on. Written by David Harkins
Alma you are forever in my thoughts
duradero a Alma. Mildred Pagan
Regina Sousa-System Administrator Este poema me recuerda a Alma
