HOW WILL COMPUTERS CHANGE IN FIVE YEARS?

SAFEBYTES SOFTWARE

Page 2: How will computers change in five years

Technology has been making leaps and bounds all over the place for the past few hundred years. Horse carriages gave way to the first automobiles, coal and steam gave way to more refined methods of providing power for propulsion, which allowed trains, boats and air travel to evolve.

Who could have guessed when they saw the Zeppelin soaring through the sky that one day we would have airplanes that reached over 9000 meters, travelled at over 700 km/h and still be safer than any of the available means of transportation at the time?

Who would have envisioned a train that shattered speed records, going at over 400 km/h and still being more comfortable in their normal seating than the first class carriages of a few years ago?Could anyone have even ventured a guess that we would be watching high definition movies that we actually chose moments before seeing it, from the comfort of our own home in a screen that was as flat as 2 books back to back? How about the odds of that person coming up with a “higher than high definition” resolution after that?

And who would have ever dreamed of having something as amazing as a smartphone available to them wherever they go. A device that can call other devices wirelessly, send text or audio or video or sometimes all three at once, be able to perform complex calculations, have a million applications to suit pretty much anyone’s needs.

Some would have called that not only preposterous, but the product of hubris that would end up dooming us all.

Technology sure has come a long way indeed, but as has been the case since the beginning, it is still evolving, mutating and changing. Innovators all around the world are constantly experimenting with new tech and ways of improving our current devices.

Case in point, this year saw the commercial release of the first Virtual Reality units that are both available to regular consumers and that actually display realistic graphics in a fluid manner.Seeing all this, you can’t help but wonder what direction technology will head in in the coming years, especially with computers. Let’s take a look at some of the advances that are being predicted for the next few years or so:

·         Cloud computing with becomes the norm. We have already begun to use the cloud for some things, here and there. Gamers might recognise the fact that the steam or PSN clouds have been rather handy at times, especially when going to another house. It is predicted that we all will eventually make the jump to the cloud, sooner rather than later. This means that the average person will have access to all of their files, anywhere, anytime.

·         Cloud security. This newfound reliance on cloud computing will mean that a virus or malware of another kind will be a thing of the past, thanks to the fact that more and more people will adopt the service. This means security companies will have no choice but to cooperate in order to provide a service that is good enough to protect someone’s entire data.·         Miniaturized super-powered machines. I’m sure you have already noticed that PCs are getting smaller and smaller as time goes on. Some of us still remember the huge CRT monitors that needed to be plugged in to the huge white tower PC. Nowadays you can either get a netbook, ultrabook or notebook or you can get an “all-in-one” model that is thinner than a flat screen TV and has every single component of the PC built into the screen. It is speculated that this trend will continue, with machines becoming smaller and smaller as more pieces are miniaturized and fitted into other pieces (such as fitting the RAM into the CPU). This would not only potentially leave us having fully functional computers that are the size of a USB key, but it would also mean that upgrading computers would be rendered pretty much meaningless.·         Never look for an outlet again. One of the worst aspects of owning devices today is that sometimes they can suck batteries dry really quickly. Most people have to charge their phone twice on the same day, and sometimes that means looking for outlets in the most unlikely places.

There are several advances predicted for batteries of devices of all types:

Page 5: How will computers change in five years

o   Better power distribution and consumption will allow batteries to allocate their power better, and only to the most essential thing at the moment, which will allow it to stay active for longer on a single chargeo   Improvements in battery materials should in theory be able to provide better everything: charge held, time to full charge, size and duration.o   Improvements in ways to charge the battery. Mostly, people are predicting that development of a completely wireless charging method will allow any battery on any device to be charged without having to connect it anywhere, and more importantly continuously throughout the day when it is needed. This means pretty much a 24/7 battery for any device you might own.

Finally, why not try one of the best optimiser out there to keep your current still-good-for-now machine running smoothly? SafeBytes TotalSystemCare will take the chore aspect of a keeping a pc running in good shape. TotalSystemCare will:

·         Speed up your PC by performing a scan for errors and invalid keys that are known to cause problems and lengthen the time it takes for it to boot up.·         Clean your registry to correct errors in the windows registry that are known to slow down performance.·         Prevent errors from occurring by going deep and fixing a wide range of critical Windows and software errors, thus preventing computer crashes and other unwanted behaviours.
