User categories measured & evaluated in LMBI 3

LMBI measurement components

The measurement components read a subset of relevant user

rights on the BI server and classify the users into the user

categories shown to the right.

LMBI consolidation component

Based on the user classification, the consolidation component

counts the number of licenses required. The underlying

contract model determines which user classification results

into which license requirement.

The consolidation component of LMBI 3 considers all

measured user classifications for the license calculation.

Where BI systems draw or are fed their data from a classical SAP solution, such as SAP Business Suite or SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse , the (indirect)

use of these application requires a license as the BI users are also considered as users of the underlying SAP application. Thus, where integrated scenarios are

deployed at a customer, LMBI determines the necessary SAP application user.

Standalone Business Analytics ProfessionalSAP named user licenses:

These can be consolidated both within SBOP BI and with SAP Classic named user

licenses according to the provided hierarchy.Example:

(1) A SAP Application Business Expert User license covers all roles in SBOP BI and SAP Classic (except developer).

(2) An employee which require a BI Limited User license (only covers one content type) and a Standalone Business Analytics Professional

user license (does not cover integrated scenarios) will either require both licenses or one Business Analytics Professional license.

SBOP BI engines:

An option to consolidate only exist for licenses of the same contract model with named

user metric (NUL) except for BI Edge.Example: A customer runs two SBOP BI installations.

(1) If both are licensed with a BI Suite contract, one BA&T SAP BusinessObjects BI Suite platform license will cover the user IDs of an

employee in both installations (additional licenses will be required for editor rights).

(2) If one is licensed with a BI Suite contract and one with a BI Package contract, the employee will need both a BA&T SAP

BusinessObjects BI Suite platform license and a SAP BusinessObjects BI Package platform license to cover user IDs on each system. The

two platform licenses of these different license models cannot be merged.

(3) If both (productive) systems use a CPU or a CSBL (or CAL) license, the deployed number of sessions will be added.

SBOP BI A-la-carte/Legacy licenses:

These can only be consolidated among each other within the same contract model.Example:

(1) An employee which acts as a SBOP Web Intelligence user in one installation and as a SBOP Web Intelligence Interactive user in

another installation, both covered via a A-la-carte contract, will require one SBOP Web Intelligence user license.

(2) Licenses from an A-la-carte contract and a Legacy contract can not be consolidated.


Consolidation


General consolidation rules

Concurrent session based license (CSBL) metric:

Users can be created as concurrent user

Each productive system has to have its own set of CSBL licenses. A

CSBL license can’t be used in two productive systems unless it is

split up (if applicable).

The number of CSBL licenses of all productive systems is added up

The number of CSBL licenses of a non-productive system may not

exceed the total number of CSBL licenses (not controlled by LMBI). If

this is the case, CSBL licenses deployed in non-productive systems

are not considered.

CPU metric:

Users can be created as concurrent user

For integrated scenarios, all users (named and concurrent users!)

require an additional named user license

(A-la-carte: Business Information User, Legacy: Employee User)

All rules from CSBL apply accordingly

Exception: Non-productive system in Legacy contracts require a

separate T/D license.

Concurrent access license (CAL) metric:

Handled as CPU licenses
