Life with BioMat How to Use the BioMat Safely & Effectively Contraindications Almost everyone can use the BioMat safely! The BioMat has been tested numerous times not only in the US but all over the world with American, Korean, Japanese FDA approvals and ISO, KETI, CE safety certifications. It is however always recommended to consult with your physician before using the BioMat. Remember to stay hydrated while using the BioMat! Some should however NOT use BioMat or use with CAUTION. Organ Transplants Recipients of any type of organ transplant (Kidney, Heart, Liver, etc) should not use the BioMat. After an organ transplant, patients will need to take immunosuppressant (anti-rejection) drugs to help prevent their immune system from attacking, or rejecting, the new organ. The use of the BioMat’s Far Infrared Rays increases immune system function, which will tell your body to attack the new organ. Renal or Kidney Failure Do not use the BioMat as it increases circulation of the blood, which may cause stress to the kidneys. External Pacemaker (outside body) Do not use the BioMat. Internal Pacemaker/Defibrillator We recommend anyone who uses an internal pace maker and/or defibrillator to consults with their physician before using the BioMat. In general, infrared heating pads have not been shown to interfere or damage pacemakers and/or defibrillators. However, there may be a small chance of causing interference occasionally. We recommend anyone who uses a pacemaker and/or defibrillator to use the BioMat on low heat only (95ºF-113ºF). The use of the BioMat increases circulation of the blood, which can cause an increase in heartbeats. Some people who use a pace maker experience discomfort since their heartbeat is being controlled. If you are experiencing continued discomfort, discontinue use immediately and seek medical attention. For people with a defibrillator, do not lay the BioMat directly over your device. Medications We recommend anyone currently taking medications to consult their physician before using the BioMat. The use of the BioMat’s far infrared rays may interfere with certain medications. Fever We recommend anyone experiencing a high fever to use the BioMat with no heat and negative ions only.

How to Use the BioMat Safely & Effectively

Contraindications Almost everyone can use the BioMat safely!

Organ Transplants Recipients of any type of organ

transplant (Kidney, Heart, Liver, etc) should not use the BioMat. After an organ transplant, patients will need to take immunosuppressant (anti-rejection) drugs to help prevent their immune system from attacking, or rejecting, the new organ. The use of the BioMat’s Far Infrared Rays increases immune system function, which will tell your body to attack the new organ.

Renal or Kidney Failure Do not use the BioMat as it

increases circulation of the blood, which may cause stress to the kidneys.

External Pacemaker (outside body) Do not use the BioMat.

▲ Internal Pacemaker/Defibrillator We recommend anyone who uses an internal pace maker and/or defibrillator to consults with their physician before using the BioMat. In general, infrared heating pads have not been shown to interfere or damage pacemakers and/or

defibrillators.

▲ Medications We recommend anyone currently taking medications to consult their physician before using the BioMat. The use of the BioMat’s far infrared rays may interfere with certain medications.

▲ Fever We recommend anyone experiencing a high fever to use the BioMat with no heat and negative ions only.

Life with BioMat

▲ Joint Injuries We recommend anyone with recent (acute) joint injuries to use the BioMat with no heat and negative ions only. Injuries should not be heated within the first 48 hours, as joints that are hot or swollen may respond poorly to heat.

▲ Insensitivity to Heat We recommend anyone with diseases associated with a reduced ability to sweat, or insensitivity to heat, to use the BioMat with no heat and negative ions only.

▲ Immobility We recommend anyone with difficulty moving or changing positions while seated or in bed to use the BioMat with low heat only (95ºF-104ºF) or negative ions only, for no more than 8 hours per day. Individuals with generally poor health or weakness, paralysis, injuries or illnesses that require bed rest or wheelchair use, sedation, or are in a coma, are more at risk for bedsores (pressure sores) or possible low heat burn.

▲ Certain Ailments We recommend anyone with the following ailments to use the BioMat on low heat (95ºF-113ºF) or negative ions only. It is unadvisable to raise the core temperature to high levels of individuals with the following conditions.

• Adrenal Suppression Disorders • Addison’s Disease • Adrenal Insufficiency • Systematic Lupus

Erythematosus • Multiple Sclerosis (MS)

▲ Brain Tumors. Use with low heat only (95ºF-113ºF). Important to use Amethyst Pillow while on the BioMat. Heat increases pressure on the brain.

▲ Bypass Surgery Use with low heat only (95ºF- 113ºF). The use of the BioMat increases circulation of the blood, which can cause normal blood vessels to expand. Some people who have gone through bypass surgery, experience discomfort since their blood vessels can’t expand.

▲ Diabetics Use with low heat only (95ºF-113ºF). Diabetics’ skin is weak, which can cause low heat burn from the BioMat. Once skin is damaged, it may be difficult to recover.

▲ High Blood Pressure People with chronically high blood pressure (hypertension) should use the BioMat with caution before and after use, and on low heat only (95ºF-113ºF). Sudden changes in body temperature and/or weather temperature may cause an increase in blood pressure.

▲ Radiation Therapy/Chemotherapy We recommend anyone that has currently received radiation treatments or chemotherapy to use the BioMat on low to medium heat (95ºF-131ºF).

▲ Surgical Metal Implants Recipients of Titanium, Metal, Ceramic, or Plastic implants can use the BioMat. Surgical implants generally reflect infrared rays and are not heated by an infrared heat system. Anyone who experiences pain in those areas should check with their physician.

▲ Silicone Implants Silicon implants may be warmed by infrared rays. Silicon is known to melt at over 200º Celsius / 392º Fahrenheit so it should not be adversely affected by infrared rays. It is however advised that you consult your surgeon before use.

▲ Pregnancy/Expectant Women Use BioMat on low heat only (95ºF-113ºF). Excessive temperatures have a potential for fetal damage during early months of pregnancy so it is important to consult your physician before using a BioMat

▲ Newborn Babies RichWay recommend parents with newborns to wait until their baby is at least 6 months old before using the BioMat, and then on low heat (95ºF-104ºF) or negative ions only, with adult supervision. Please use with caution.

▲ Infants/Children RichWay recommend that infants and children using the BioMat should use it on low heat only (95ºF-113ºF) and with

adult supervision. If temperature is too high for the child, the temperature can’t be controlled without an adult. Please use with caution and keep child hydrated.

▲ Pain Pain should not be experienced when using the BioMat. However, the infrared heat will go to areas of disease or discomfort so some people may perceive this as pain and others as a sensation. If pain is persistent, discontinue use. ▲ Worsened Condition If there are any worsened conditions when using the BioMat, discontinue use. However, some temporary symptoms may occur, which can be attributed to the detoxification and healing process. For more information, please see the stages of improvement in Richway’s Ions and Infrared Rays booklet. Ask your distributor for a copy.

BioMat Temperatures etc. ● Slow and Easy A good way to introduce anybody to the BioMatat is slow and easy. The first two settings (95ºF-104ºF) is the best way to introduce the BioMat. ● Health Issues For individuals with health issues (diabetes, high blood pressure, allergies, asthma, or those who might be very toxic from smoking, drinking, using medications, etc.) Start slow with 2nd green temperature (104ºF) for 20 to 30 minutes. Drink water and monitor feelings afterwards. Limit sessions the first few days unless using negative ions setting only (= no temperature).

Life with BioMat

● When to raise the temperature The green settings (95º-104º) are very mild temperatures for anyone to get adjusted to the BioMat and its’ frequencies. These temperatures can be used extensively and be slept on as well. Once somebody has had an experience with the BioMat on these lower settings for at least a couple of days and feels good, they can go ahead and slowly work their way up to the 4th setting (122ºF). This is a good temperature for those with health issues. For those that do not have health issues, the 5th setting (131ºF) is a very comfortable setting that gets them in theta and delta states very quickly, which is very relaxing. Also for pain relief or a 30 minute power nap. ● Therapeutic sweats Therapeutic sweats are very beneficial at least once a week for half an hour to one hour on highest setting. Wear natural fibers. Wrap yourself in terry cloth wrap, sweats, cotton sheet… anything to raise the body temperature. Protect the BioMat from sweat by layering cotton towels on top of the cotton pad. ● Hydrate well! Drink a glass of water before and after using the BioMat. The BioMat will help release stored toxins, so make sure to drink plenty of water to help purge those toxins after usage. ● Pain patch: Any kind of external patch on body should be removed while on the BioMat as it will increase the uptake on the patch. This includes nicotine patch. ● Use only natural fibers on the BioMat: Cotton, wool, flax, silk, bamboo. Stay away from synthetic fibers as they block negative ions and the body absorbs toxins in synthetic fabrics. Counterproductive. ● Soften the BioMat surface To soften the BioMat, use beach towels or purchase RichWay’s Quantum Energy Pad, which softens the BioMat surface. The infrared frequencies will pass through the layers of insulation and reach your body. The heat might however need to be bumped up slightly as it may not feel as intense through the layers.
