How to use Pinterest to dominate the #choose2bmore contest!

Set up an account

1) Sign up (or sync a twitter or fb account) www.pinterest.com

Creating Boards

1In the upper right corner you’ll see the main toolbar

This is where most of what you will do comes from

2) Click add and then select “Create A Board”.

3) If youre looking to join the Penn Foster contest call your board “Choose to be more” (follow the

pic below to see)

Wait what’s a board? What’s a pin?

Boards are the category / containers for “pins” on pinterest. Pins are, in most cases, pictures, videos,

quotes that link to websites. Pinterest is becoming the “what you like” social network. So create

boards that contain pins you like and then create new boards when you’re pinning things about a

different category, theme, or topic.

Following Others

For the penn foster contest, we ask that you follow us. Here is how to do that: Go to

http://pinterest.com/pennfoster/ and click the follow all button in the middle of the screen:

It’s really the same to follow anyone, but you can use the search function in the upper left corner to find

other pinners.

Repinning

Part of our rules ask you to repin our rules.

1) Go to http://pinterest.com/pin/154670568424929024/ (the rules)

2) Hover your mouse over the picture of the rules

3) Select “repin”

4) Select your “choose to be more board” (mine is called #choose2bmore because I’m cool and

like to make things confusing)

5) Select “pin it”

Adding Your Own Pins

1) Click add in the upper right corner

2) There are two options to create pins

Whats the difference?

Add a pin means you have the url to what you want to pin, and upload a pin means that you

have a picture on your computer that you would like to upload.

In most cases for the pennfoster contest, you are going to use “add a pin” and paste in the url

from the www.pennfoster.edu page.

3) In another window (most browsers let you hit CTRL+N) Go to pennfoster.edu find a page or

picture you like and copy its url (the web address at the top).

4) Back to pinterest paste that url into the add a pin bar

5) Select find images

6) Click next until you find a picture you like

7) Select your “choose to be more board”

8) Write a comment and be sure to use the #choose2bmore tag and write in the

www.pennfoster.edu address

9) Select “Pin it”

10) Have fun with it! Pin things from the penn foster website, anything that makes you think of

penn foster, or anything you find motivational or helpful to other students.
