Introduction v

Introduction This manual is designed to teach potential employees how to clean and tint the headlights of an

automobile. Employees must learn these steps in order to work at Davy’s garage. I wrote the

step-by-step procedure, and some hints to help you along the way. The first chapter focuses on

cleaning the headlights with wet sand paper. The proceeding chapter covers the importance of

applying clear coat. The last chapter is about tinting the headlights. Most customers find tinting

head lights optional but the first two steps are important for all cars. Cleaning headlights allows

drivers to see better at night, and the clear coat keeps it shiny. I included fly pages to help readers

capture the summery of the proceeding chapter, and the chapters go in depth to explain the steps.

Chapter one: How to clean the headlights of an

automobile This chapter will cover the steps for cleaning the headlights of an automobile using wet sand

paper. Follow the safety rules, gather your material, and get started.

Safety Rules Safety rules must be followed at all times. Below is a list of safety rules.

1. Wear a respiratory mask or something of better quality that can protect you from inhaling

chemical.

2. Wear gloves that fit, so you can work effectively.

3. Wear googles to protect your eyes.

4. Wear an apron, or a body suit to protect your cloth.

This is for your own health protection. If you do not follow the safety rules you are at risk for

long term effects such as lung cancer, irritation or damage to the nose, throat, eyes, and skin.

Clean the headlights Most headlights get dual after it has been in the sun for too long. To get the headlights to sparkle

again is easy if you follow these steps. First put the sand paper in the bucket of water. Quickly

take it out, and scrub the headlights lightly. Avoid pressing too hard on the sand paper, because it

can cause scratch on the headlights. Once you have scrubbed of the white residue, spray your

choice of Windex or Glass Plus. Than use the paper towel to wipe of the headlights. In the

following chapter you will find the steps to make the headlights shiny.

Chapter two: How to apply clear coat on the headlights

of an automobile This chapter covers the safety rules, equipment needed to complete task, and the procedure for

applying clear coat.

Masking Tape, preferably 3M

Masking paper

Acrylic Enamel Clear Coat

Apply clear coat Before you apply the clear coat, you first need to protect the car from getting clear coat on it.by

covering the hood and bumper with masking paper. Put tape on one end of the masking paper

and tape around the headlights. Figure five show how to properly tap the masking paper. Since

the spread of the spry is small, you only have to cover the hood and bumper of the car.

Open the can of Acrylic Enamel clear coat, and spray from the right side to the left side. You

should move back and forth as fast as you can. Once you have sprayed over the whole headlight,

let it dry well you follow the same steps on you’re the other headlight. When you are done with

the second head light go back to the second one and check to see if it has dried. When the

headlight is dry apply another set of clear coat on the head light. The clear coat keeps the

headlights shiny, and it prevents the headlight to be dual.

Now the headlight look shine like it just came out of the factory. This is more affordable then

having to by new headlights. A customer might prefer to leave their headlight clear and shiny.

For others that would like to tint their headlights the instruction is on the proceeding chapter. If

you are tinting the headlight leave the masking paper on the car.

CHAPTER THREE

You will learn how to tint headlights in the last chapter. Application process starts with shaking

can thoroughly so that paint mixes. Hold 8- 12 inches away and apply left to right in even layers.

mobile Tinting the headlights is the hardest part of these procedures. If it is your first time, follow the

instruction step by step and you will do great. The only way to get better is through practice.

Start by following the safety rules, gathering your equipment and get ready to tint the headlights.

Translucent black lens paint

Masking paper

Tape, preferably 3M

Tint the headlights

If you have not done so already, cover your hood and bumper with the masking paper. Put tape

on one side of the masking paper and tape it around the headlights. Then spray the translucent

black lens paint on the headlight from right to left. Move back and forth quickly until the

headlight is covered. Let the first on dry well you do the other headlight. Once it is dry you can

add more layers depending on how dark your trying to make the head light. To give it style, put

one extra layer on the top left and right corners. Try to get this right the first time, because it

becomes much harder if you have to redo it over and over again. As you repeat this steps

multiple time you will end up making the surface of the headlights. In a case where you

absolutely need to redo your work, you can use gasoline to clean off the Translucent clack lens.
