Turn it off, open the back cover and remove the battery.

1. Reset Kindle 1st generation

press the power button for a while and wait for the reboot.

This will take as long as one minute after it shuts down.

2. Reset Kindle 2nd generation

Press the power button for 15-30 seconds.

Wait for the reboot.

3. Reset Kindle Keyboard (Kindle 3)

Press the power button for 30 seconds.

Wait for the reboot.

4. Reset Kindle Touch

This model is generally known as Kindle 2.

Press the power button for 30 seconds.

Wait for the reboot.

5. Reset Kindle 5-Way Controller

Press the power button for 30 seconds and wait for the reboot.

For a software resetting, press the setting icon in the upper right corner, select "Settings“ twice to tap "Reset Device".

6. Reset Kindle Paperwhite

To reset Kindle Fire or Kindle Fire HD, go to "Setting" (upper right corner), select "More", then "Device". Tap "Reset to Factory Defaults" to reset.
