HOW TO READ YOUR BILL

At the request of our Cooperative members, and to help everyone better understand how to read their power bill, we are providing descriptors for each element of the TCEC Power bill.

1. Account Number — A unique member account number is assigned with each new account. Your account remains the same even when the mailing address changes for the account.

2. Service From/To — The dates of electric service covered by this bill.

3. No. of Days — Total number of days in this billing period.

4. RDG Code — Identifies the type of reading. E = Estimated, R = Regular, etc. (No. 20 describes the reading types.)

5. Reading Previous/Present — Previous is your meter reading at the time of your last billing or connection. Present is your most recent meter reading. Subtract the previous reading from the present reading to determine the amount of electricity used during this billing period.

6. Multiplier — The amount of electricity used is determined by multiplying the difference between the present and previous reading by the multiplier displayed on your electric bill.

7. Bill Type — Most residential members are coded 0 or 1. (No. 25 describes the bill types.)

8. Rate — Identifies the rate classification used for billing your service. (No. 27 describes the rate identifiers.)

9. KWH Usage — The total number of kilowatt hours used during this billing period.

10. Charges — This is the cost of electricity consumed during the billing period. This amount will vary month to month according to the amount of energy consumed.

11. Wholesale Power Cost Adj — This amount is added to or subtracted from your bill based on the changes in the cost of wholesale power. It is based on charges TCEC incurs from its wholesale power supplier.

12. Basic Facility Charge — This monthly fee is designed to recover a portion of TCEC’s fixed costs such as poles, wires, substations, etc.

13. Tax - Gross — This is a tax imposed by the state of Florida. All members are required to pay this tax. (Gross Receipts Tax.)

14. Current Electric Charges — Amount that is due for your current month’s electric usage. (Also shown in Nos. 17 and 22.)

15. Previous Amount Due — Amount for your previous month’s electric usage. (See No. 16 for date and amount posted.)

16. Thank you for your payment — Previous amount paid and date posted.

17. Total Amount Due — Amount that is currently due. (Also shown in Nos. 14 and 22.)

18. Location — Location of the service. This number identifies your location with our digitized mapping system.

19. Meter No. — This unique number physically identifies the meter at your location.

20. Reading Codes — Used in No. 4.

21. Comparisons — A comparison of the electricity used at your home, showing the number of days in the month, the kilowatt hours used, and the cost for the current month and the previous month.

22. Total Now Due — Total amount due and the date due. (Also shown in Nos. 14 and 17.)

23. Amount After Due Date — Total amount due if not paid by the due date. This amount may include a late fee.

24. Notice — Any alerts and notices are included in this box.

25. Bill Type — Describes the bill types which appear in No. 7.

26. Meter Guide — This space is used for a metered location descriptor such as irrigation pump, residence, barn, shop, etc. The description can be changed to meet the needs of the member.

27. Board District — Geographic region you live in determining which member-elected Board Trustee represents your voice in the operation of the Cooperative.

28. Rate — This reflects the member’s rate type and is included in No. 8.
