2. *******READ FIRST*****

When you create a new project you will have to DEACTIVATE the project you are coping from. This means your users can’t login to QC while you are creating a new oracle project.This means you have to copy a project on off hours or notify users.

Find the step in this document that says:DEACTIVATE PROJECT: A warning message window pops up as shown below. “You can copy values from deactivated projects only. The project you are currently working with is still active. Do you want to deactivate it?Click “Yes”

3. Creating a copy of the existing project in QC

3.1 QC site Admin

Log in to QC site AdminClick “Create Project”

If you are doing this in test env:you may have to CREATE PROJECTS. By doing this you create table space in TDADMIN. Creating project creates the DBID file – this links the application to DB for that projects. When you click CREATE it’s creating tables.

If you are in prod you may be restoring tables after an upgrade

“Create Project” new window will pop up.Select the radio button “Create a project by copying data from an existing project” and click “Next” button

Select the project name from which you want to create a copy from the “From Project” drop down.Click the “Select All” link and click “Next”

Enter the project name under “Project Name” fieldSelect the domain name from “In Domain” drop down list and click “Next”

Under “Database Type” sectionSelect radio button “Oracle”

Under “DB Server” sectionSelect “Flammingo.idc.vzwcorp.com” from “Server name” drop down listEnter “System” under “DB Admin User” fieldEnter “ “ under “DB Admin Password”

Click “Next”

A warning message window pops up as shown below. Read and click “OK”

Select “TDADMIN (1022.5MB Free)” from “Create in TableSpace” drop down listSelect “TEMP” from “Temporary TableSpace” drop down list

Note: Here are the other options for creating table space. We do NOT use any of these other options

Find the project administrator from the “Available Users” section on right and click . You will see the project Administrator in the “Selected Project Administrators” section on left and Click “Next”

Check the “Activate Project” check box and click “Create” button

DEACTIVATE PROJECT: A warning message window pops up as shown below. “You can copy values from deactivated projects only. The project you are currently working with is still active. Do you want to deactivate it?Click “Yes”

Another warning message window pops up. Read and click “OK”

It will take time to create the copy. Wait until the “Project created successfully” message window pops up. Click “OK”

The Copy of the project is successfully created.

3.2 Verification

Log in to QC selecting the Main and as well as Copied project to see everything looks similar.

4. Activating a project in QC

4.1 QC site Admin

Log in to QC site AdminExpand the domain under which the project is assignedSelect the project which you have to activate. In this case, you can see “DOC_MANAGER_COPY_TESTONLY” is inactive as shown below

Click “ (Activate Project)” icon as shown below.

The project is activated and the inactive message in red above will turn in to blue deleting the inactive word as shown below.

4.2 Verification

Sign in to QC. Now you will see the activated project name in the “Project” drop down list. Click “Login”

Now you are logged in to the Activated project and you can see the Domain and Project name in the below image.

5. Deactivating a project in QC

5.1 QC site Admin

Log in to QC site AdminExpand the domain under which the project is assignedSelect the project which you have to deactivate. In this case, we will select “DOC_MANAGER_COPY_TESTONLY”

Click “ (Deactivate Project)” icon as shown below.

A warning message window pops up as shown below. Read and click “OK”

The project is deactivated and the inactive message in red is shown next to the project name as shown below.

5.2 Verification

Sign in to QC. Now you will NOT see the project name in the “Project” drop down list as shown below.
