  1. 1. How to Make an Org Chart for Mac
  2. 2. To make an org chart on a Mac, youll first need to pick a diagramming program. Many diagramming tools are PC-only, so make sure you double check that your tool is Mac compatible. For the purposes of this presentation, we will use Lucidchart as our tool. You can register for a free Lucidchart account at www.lucidchart.com/users/registerLevel STEP 1: Pick a tool
  3. 3. Starting with one department, list out the name and position of each person in your organization. You can use a basic list, a spreadsheet, or another method to make first list; you may also already have such a list in place. If your organization is not a flat one, you should also list who each reports to. Determine which additional fields you would like to include in your chart, such as contact info. STEP 2: Compile your content
  4. 4. If you are making a traditional, hierarchical org chart, begin with the highest position at your company, e.g. the CEO. Turn on the org chart shape library in Lucidchart by clicking More shapes in the bottom of the editor. Select your preferred style of org chart from the panel on the left and drag it out onto the editor. STEP 3: Draw lines and shapes
  5. 5. In each cell, add information you want to include beyond name and position, such as a phone number, picture, or location. In Lucidchart, you can double click on a cell to add this information all at once. STEP 3 CONT: Draw lines and shapes
  6. 6. If youre using Lucidchart, you dont need to start from scratch. You can upload a CSV with your company info and automatically generate a completed org chart. When using a CSV in Lucidchart, make sure you include name, employee, role, and supervisor. STEP 3: Draw lines and shapes

Try color coding by department or level of hierarchythis will make your org chart easier to follow. * If youre using Lucidchart, try using the clean up feature found in the little gray box where you add employee details. This will help you make sure your org chart spacing is perfect. STEP 4: Complete your chart
  8. 8. Review each person in your org chart to make sure you have them reporting to the right person in the right department. Have a colleague review your org chart as well. STEP 5: Review
