How to make an appeal page

What is an appeal page? An appeal page enables your charity to raise funds for a specific cause or project. You can track how much the appeal has raised in your reports.

Making an appeal page is the same as setting up a fundraising page. This guide will take you through, step by step.

Step 1Find your charity

• Go to www.justgiving.com • Type your charity’s name or

charity number into the search box

• Select your charity from the search results. This will take you to your charity profile on JustGiving.

• Click the Raise money for us button.

Step 2 Set up a personal account

You now need to set up a personal account. This enables you to personalise the page at any time and receive notifications when someone donates.

You need to use an email address that isn’t already being used for a separate personal JustGiving account. This is so your charity’s appeal pages are kept separate from any fundraising you might be doing outside of work.

• Enter your email address. • Select Sign up to JustGiving• Create your account

We need a bit of information from you to set up your personal account.

Fill in the following:

• Confirm your email address• Enter your charity’s name in the first

name field and Appeal in the last name field.

• Create your password

Then enter your...

• Address – Use your charity’s address here. Enter the building number and postcode, click Find address and select the full address from the list.

• Click continue

Step 3 Select your page type

• Select Doing your own thing by clicking on the Personal challenge button.

Step 4 Finalise your appeal page

• Give your appeal page a name.• Select an appeal for a charity.• Leave the question regarding your

charity’s contribution ticked as No.• Choose a JustGiving web address for

your appeal page. It can’t include spaces - only letters, numbers and hyphens. We recommend choosing something short and relevant to the appeal.

• Click on Create your page.

Step 5 Personalise your appeal page

Your appeal page is now live and ready to take donations.

You can personalise it with photos, a video, a story, a title and a target. If you are not ready to do this now, click Continue. You can personalise the page at any point by logging in to your personal account.

Step 6 Promote your appeal

Now all you need to do is spread the word and let people know how they can donate to your appeal.

• Email your supporters with the link to your appeal page.

• Add a donate button to your charity website linking to your appeal page.

• Publish your appeal on Facebook.

• Spread the word on Twitter.

• If your charity is based in the UK, get a JustTextGiving code for your appeal and ask for text donations.
