DESCRIPTION

This proposal utilizes digital content to promote artistic expression and engagement for children. Spatial Flashcards is an augmented interactive learning tool for kids to help them to understand spatial awareness. A virtual space delivers “extended” space and helps stimulate their imagination, creativity and thought by experiencing words as sounds and images. Basically learning through play. This installation also helps create conversations between children and their parents.

“Studies have suggested a link between a well-developed sense of spatial awareness and artistic creativity, as well as success in math. It can also be important in the development of abstract thought.

Spatial awareness requires that we have a model of the three dimensional space around us, and it requires that we can integrate information from all of our senses.”

The stories on the pavement were magical, funny, weird representing one’s childhood itself - a temporary state of being that we all experience, pass through, and remember well.

From there, I wanted to use technology to make the unimaginable come to life inventing unique approaches that explore play and engagement through interaction and visual communication.
