How to launch your career using 500 Miles

Instructions for making the most of the 500 Miles app

Create an accountIf you haven't already, download the

free 500 Miles app from Apple App Store or Google Play Store

Step 1: Create an account using email or Facebook.

Step 2: When prompted “Are you a full time student?” indicate your school or your current employer

500 Miles will show you your alumni connections or ex-colleagues at each company

Build Your ProfileVisit the Profile tab to fill out your

profileOR import your profile info from

LinkedInIndicate your desired job type,

preferred locations and desired roles Providing your preferences enables 500

Miles to recommend employers and opportunities that are right for you

Add other schools, employers and websitesAlso add your relevant links and past

employersFilling out this information will enable

our recommendations engine to produce better recommendations for you

For each school and employer you add, we will show you connections from them at each of the companies

In addition, providing this information will expedite the hiring process

Discover companies & jobs that interest youDiscover: Browse through the

recommended companies on the “Discover” tab

Search: You can look up companies by company name, location or open jobs

Stacks: Browse through the various stacks and review each trending company on that list

Apply for jobsStep 1: Find roles that are a good fit and apply for them

Step 2: You will be asked to upload relevant links again (if you have not done so). Next you can take a picture of your resume or send it to viral@500miles.io.

If you elect to email your resume (it’s recommended that you do both), make the subject line your name and indicate the companies and roles you are applying for in the body.

Step 3: Submit your application

For jobs sourced from Indeed, you will be asked to login using your Indeed credentials for the first time
