HOW TO GET TO HKUST FROM AIRPORT

By Taxi: The easiest and fastest way to travel to HKUST from the airport is by taxi. It may not be the cheapest method but it saves you the hassle of carrying your luggage on and off public transportation in an unfamiliar city. From the airport, take a red taxi* at the designated taxi stand; the fare is approximately HKD380 for the entire journey. Please note that your driver will only accept HK dollars in cash.

(*) Please ensure that you board a red-colored taxi. Green or blue-colored taxis are restricted to travel in the New Territories and Lantau Island respectively. Alternative Methods:

Staying in HKUST: For those of you staying in HKUST campus, you could follow any one of the above means to get to HKUST. If you are taking taxi, please direct taxi driver to take you to either Visitor Center (red circle) or University Center (green circle) as shown in the HKUST campus map (on p.3). For those who staying in campus, please go ahead directly to check in with the manger on duty. You can pay to them directly at the time when you check out. Staying in Downtown (Tsim Sha Tsui - Kowloon) Area: You can adopt any of the above methods from airport to your hotel if you did not reserve hotel shuttle pickup. That is,

(1) The Speedy Way: Take airport express to “Kowloon Station” followed by a taxi to your hotel;

(2) The Cheaper Ways: By way of Airport Buses. Go to Information Counter in the Airport asking for which Airport bus will take you to place near your hotel. There are many bus routes taking people from the Airport to different hotels in downtown area in Kowloon and in Hong Kong Island side.

Staying in Downtown (Hong Kong Island) Area: You can take taxi or adopt any of the above methods from airport to your hotel or nearby MTR station. Some of you are staying at North Point area. The easiest way is to take MTR because most hotels in the area are in the immediate vicinity of the MTR station. The easiest way to get to HKUST from North Point area is to take MTR to Hang Hau Station and followed by taking taxi (green taxi is slightly cheaper) to HKUST.

TSIM SHA TSUI (TST) ⇔ HKUST

(1) By Conference Buses (Provided during 10-12 December 2008) • Royal Garden Hotel (帝苑酒店)⇒ HKUST

o Departure time: 08:00am o Pick-up point: Royal Garden Hotel Lobby

• HKUST ⇒ Royal Garden Hotel. o Departure time:

18:00pm (10 &11 December 2008) 15:30pm (12 December 2008)

o Pick-up point: University Piazza (10~12 December 2008)

(2) By Taxis: Make sure it is a red taxi. Normally, it would take about 30 minutes.

(3) By Public Buses

• Double-deck bus (Route 98C) will take you from TST East to Hang-Hau MTR Station (less than HK$10). There is a bus stop for 98C across the street nearby Royal Garden Hotel.

• Once you reach Hang-Hau MTR Station, take green Mini-Bus 11M (HK$4.2) or taxi (Green taxi would cost about HK$25 and red taxi $30) to take you directly to HKUST.

(4) By MTR & Buses

• Referring to the attached MTR system map, you could take MTR to Diamond Hill Station or Hang Hau Station. Then, you could hop on a taxi to take you to HKUST.
