How To Get Rid Of Fleas In Your House Once And For All

Anyone who lives with fleas in their house knows how difficult and frustrating the situation can be.

It’s no laughing matter having little miniaturized little vampire blood suckers attacking you and your family all hours of the night.

If you want to get rid of fleas in your house, there are a couple of great natural and inexpensive solutions available to you.

Here is something you can do right now to get rid of fleas in your house and you probably already have this little gem sitting in your kitchen pantry.

Salt

Others have sworn by using Borax and salt mixed together however I wanted to go as natural as I could.

A concerning side effect of Borax is that prolonged use can actually cause kidney failure and affect the skin.

The last thing you want to do is use a chemical in your home where your children and pets are, you don’t want to jeopardize the health of your family in the name of getting rid of some fleas, it’s just not worth it, especially if it’s something you have to apply time and time again.

My advice is to skip the Borax and just use plain, good old fashioned salt that you find in your kitchen pantry.

If you cook with it and sprinkle it on your evening meals then it’s something that you know you can trust in your home to treat your flea situation with.

Before you get started, choose a designated room to “de-flea”.

You’ll need to keep this room strictly off limits for at least 24 hours and the last thing you want to do is become ahuman carrier for fleas trying to escape their fate.

Directions

Grab your container of salt from your kitchen and shake it all over the floor of the room you’ve chosen to de-flea.

Cover all of the spots where possible get in between cracks and floorboards because that’s where the little buggers wedge themselves to hide.

I then get a broom or a dry mop and rub it into the pile of the carpet to really work in so that it will penetrate deep into the fibers. This also ensures that the salt is not sitting on the surface where it may end up on your pet’s paws should they accidentally get into the room and end up licking it off their feet.

If there is a chance your curious pet may get into any of the rooms with the aid of a helpful child, then best opt for baking soda, the least harmful agent but still deadly on fleas.

Seal up the room by rolling up an old bathroom towel and use it to block the space underneath the door with, this will stop the little critters from migrating to the rest of the house.

Then let the salt work its magic. You know why salt is incredible? Because it’s a natural preservative and dehydrates anything it comes into contact with, fleas included.

With fleas it will draw the moisture out of them and desiccates them, like Spongebob Squarepants out of water.

After 24 hours, go into the sealed off room and vacuum thoroughly in every nook and cranny. What I also like to do is spray a couple of puffs of bug spray into the hose of the vacuum while it’s on to really get rid of any surviving fleas the vacuum picks up.

Then dispose of the vacuum bag by placing it into a plastic garbage bag, spraying a couple of puffs of bug spray into and then sealing it off. This ensures that those pesky fleas stay out this time.

Once you’ve done one room, move onto the next designated room and repeat the process.

You might want to re-do the rooms until no more fleas are present, you may have to do this 2 to 3 times.

Stick with it, it really works. I can’t stress how effective it is and harmless to the health of your family but deadly to annoying fleas.
