powder with honey and consume thrice a day.

Onions:
Onion is very good at stopping coughs. You can
make your own cough syrupby using either baked
onion juice or honey and comfrey tea. It is effective
when taken on a daily basis.
To make an onion cough syrup: Mix honey, grated
onion, lemon juice and boil in a pan over a pot of
boiling water. Cover and let it boil for 2 hours. Then,
drain liquid from the juice and consume 1 tbsp
every alternate hour.
Tulsi – Holy Basil:
Tulsi in combination with ginger is an effective
remedy for cough. Squash about 10 leaves of
tulsi, and extract juice from a small ginger
piece. Mix both of them and add an equal
amount of honey. To get relief from cough,
swallow about a single teaspoon of this about
three times a day.

Garlic:
Garlic has been known to have both
antibacterial and antimicrobial components
that are useful in treating coughs.
To prepare a garlic solution: Take at least two
cloves of garlic, boil in water, and add a
spoonful of oregano. Include a small quantity
of honey when the solution is at room
temperature. Now, you can drink it. The
solution helps in decreasing cough symptoms
and improves breathing.
You can also crush one clove of garlic and mix
it with one or two drops of honey and clove
oil. Eating this blend aids in relieving any
throat complications you may experience.
Ginger:
Ginger is well known to have antiviral properties.
You can chop fresh ginger into small pieces or crush
it, add a pinch of clove, cinnamon powder and put
them in a cup of hot water, which gives an herbal

practice to drink this mix about 4 times daily. Ginger
can also be chewed to cut down any cough
symptoms. Turmeric:
Turmeric is used by a lot of people. It has

of dry coughs. One of the simplest ways to
treat coughs is to blend turmeric with carom
seeds. Take a teaspoon of each and add in
one cup of water. Simmer the mixture until
the water level comes to half. Mix a few
teaspoons of honey to the solution and
consume it at least twice a day.
You can also grind the roasted turmeric
root, which gives you a soft powder. Add it
with water and honey and take it two times
a day.

Gargling with Hot Water & Salt:
Add a pinch of salt in lukewarm water and gargle
this saltwater to lessen your cough. Doing it many
times during the day gives the best results.

Cloves:
Mix honey and cloves, store in the refrigerator

Mustard Plaster:
Mix mustard powder (1 part), and flour (2
parts) with egg or water, and spread this
paste on a dish towel. Then, fold the towel,
press it against the skin. This acts as a
natural chest rub that loosens up the chest
congestion.

Thyme:
Make your own herbal syrup with licorice,
peppermint, thyme and mullein.
Just take two teaspoons of peppermint, thyme,
licorice, and mullein each and add in a cup of boiling
water. Stir and cover for about 30 minutes. Then,
strain it and mix with honey, about half a cup. You
can heat the syrup gently while stirring, if the honey
does not dissolve. One can refrigerate this syrup for
maximum 3 months. Use a teaspoon of the syrup
when needed.
Thyme and peppermint have antimicrobial and
antispasmodic properties. They are effective in
clearing congestion in air passages. Mullein and
Licorice help in soothing irritated membranes and
ease any possible inflammation.
Oil Steam Bath:
A warm steamy bath with a few drops of sage oil or
eucalyptus oil can relieve a night time cough. Just
close the bathroom door while taking the shower, so
that the vapor does not escape away and the room
gets steamy.
Milk with Honey:
Dry cough can be reduced by drinking hot milk
added with honey. It also reduces the chest pains
caused during prolonged coughing. You can have
this drink every night before going to bed.

Cayenne:
Sometimes, persistent coughing results in painful
chest pains and cayenne is effective in diminishing
this pain. Cayenne pepper increases blood
circulation and hastens the healing process. It is a
pleasant remedy for the people who is suffering

Mix ¼ teaspoon of cayenne pepper with 2
tablespoon of water, apple cider vinegar- a single
tablespoon, honey-a single tablespoon, and ground

Licorice:
Add licorice tincture (50 drops) to a cup of hot
water and sip it. Licorice is good for a cough, as it
relaxes bronchial spasms and loosens phlegm.
Candy:
Suck a bittersweet herb or a horehound
candy. This is good for wet cough, as it acts as
an expectorant and helps in bringing up
phlegm.
Almonds:
Almonds have properties that help in the
healing of coughs. Soak at least 5 almonds for a
minimum of 8 hours and make a paste from it.
Add one teaspoon of butter to this smooth
almond paste. To get relief from some of the
cough symptoms, you can eat it about three
times a day.

Carrot Juice:
Carrot is rich with vitamins and nutrients that
are helpful in alleviating the symptoms of
cough. Prepare a fresh carrot juice by using at
least four carrots and dilute it with water.
Drink this carrot juice about four times daily to

mix the juice with one teaspoon of honey and
