What is research funding?

• What funding will cover varies depending on

source

• Can be as little as buying equipment

• Or as much as covering salary, education and

all costs associated with carrying out research

• Some funders follow DoH guidance on funding

i.e AcoRD

Type of research

• The research you are planning dictates the

type of funding you can apply for

• Small scale pilot or feasibility work

• Research linked to an educational qualification

• Larger scale or multi site clinical trials

• All funding sources will have criteria, an

application process, and deadlines
