About the Program:

Considering earning your BA in Photography? These four-year degrees provide a liberal arts education with a focus on photography, preparing graduates for careers as freelance photographers, photojournalists, fashion photographers,

and more!

In addition to completing general education requirements, photography students will complete courses in photography techniques, aesthetics, film development, and lighting design.

Other courses may include general art classes, layout and print design, photojournalism, portrait photography, fine art photography, graphic design.

Many programs also offer business and marketing courses to prepare graduates for freelance photography careers

Before applying, review the admissions requirements for each institution. Admissions requirements may vary from institution to institution, and may be found online.

Create a portfolio of your best work. Choose from photos that display your talents in a variety of photography mediums, including black and white, digital, portraiture, and fine art photography.

Reach out to your mentors and high school teachers for letters of recommendation to include with your applications.

An admissions essay may be required. This will be your chance to let the Admissions board know a little about yourself, and why you would like to study Photography. Be honest, thoughtful, and confident.

Financial Aid:Most students apply for financial aid for all or some of their college careers. Financial aid can help students with tuition costs, book costs, living costs, and more!

Student loans are some of the easiest loans to repay. To qualify, complete a FAFSA form with your parents or legal guardians. This form will help identify your need for financial aid and can determine the amount of financial aid you will receive. FAFSA forms may be filled out online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

Scholarships are a great way to help pay college fees. Scholarships and grants do not have to be repaid, and you can find plenty of scholarship and grant opportunities online. Colleges also offer scholarships and grants. Visit your college’s Financial Aid Office to learn more about school-sponsored scholarship opportunities.

Many schools offer work-study programs to help you pay for college expenses. On-campus jobs are typically more flexible than off-campus options, and on-campus employers are willing to work around your study schedule.
