Did you know that everything you wear, from your hairstyle to the nail polish on your

toes communicate a message or attitude? Your appearance and everything you wear

on a daily basis speaks on your behalf. Your image and style speak so loudly that when

people see you, especially for the first time, they are making judgments about you

based on your appearance. Studies show that your visual appearance influences 85% -

95% of your personal presentation. Is your current image a good reflection of who you

are? This style guide will help you dress according to your true self and help you create

a more distinct style and presence.

THE SEVEN STEPS TO DRESSING FOR SUCCESS

Although this book will talk about your Personality Style (step #4), here are all seven

steps to dressing for a successful image. Once you’ve mastered dressing with your

personality style, incorporate the other steps for a complete image and style makeover.

1. WEAR THE COLORS THAT SUIT YOU BEST

You will instantly lift your image when you wear your colors, and benefit with the look of

diminished blemishes, wrinkles, dark under eye circles and weight loss. The opposite is

true when you are not wearing your colors. You will look tired, sickly, and all your

imperfections stand out.

2. WEAR THE STYLES THAT SUIT YOUR BODY SHAPE

You will look more sophisticated and attractive if your clothing is fitly suited to your body

shape. When you are wearing the correct styles, you will camouflage problem areas

and enhance your assets.

3. LEARN HOW TO DEAL WITH YOUR CHALLENGES

Some may look at weight gain as a challenge and postpone their shopping trip until all

the extra weight is gone. Did you know you can wear clothing to create an illusion of

weight loss? This goes with any other challenge whether your bust is large and difficult

to fit, or you are petite and want to add more height. Learn how to work with your body

just the way it is and save the dieting and weight control remedies for health and

wellness goals.

4. DRESS WITH A DISTINCT PERSONALITY STYLE

Instead of aimlessly going to the mall looking for something that catches your eye, go

with a plan. Ask yourself how you want to look. Whether it is dramatic or romantic,

define what you want to communicate with your clothing, and keep this theme

consistent in your wardrobe. It will make dressing easier since everything will coordinate

together. It will also help you maintain a successful image.

5. FOLLOW A DRESS CODE

Be sure you know what your company’s dress code requires you to wear. If you are a

business owner or sole proprietor, dress to match the formality of your clients. If you

don’t have a dress code, be sure to dress appropriately to your lifestyle for maximum

use of your wardrobe.

6. COMPLETE A REGULAR WARDROBE DETOX

Biannually, at the two major seasonal changes, spring/summer and fall/winter, detox

your wardrobe and remove all the clutter that doesn’t support your image. Reassess

what you have and look for gaps in your wardrobe. Donate or trash what you don’t use.

Dry clean and repair pieces as required.

7. MAKE A SHOPPING LIST WITHIN YOUR BUDGET

After you’ve completed your wardrobe detox, make a shopping list that incorporates all

the above steps (dress code, personality style, body shape and colors). This will take

some time, but you will need to go to the mall with a plan, so that your result is a

wardrobe that works! Your annual wardrobe budget should be 3% to 5% of your salary.

Spend half of that budget for the warm season and the other half for the cooler months.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

My story on how I went from being “The Quiet Girl” that was never noticed

to being a Confident, Attractive and Stylish Woman that

lives in the spotlight!

Growing up as a young girl, I always felt like the

sidekick living in the shadows of my friends who were

considered more beautiful and popular. If anyone did

notice me, I was referred to as “the quiet girl who hung

out with…” Although I was accepted into the “in crowd,”

my peers, opportunities and people in general often

overlooked me.

I remember always feeling insignificant and unpretty. My

friends always had the “ideal image.” They had fair skin

with long soft hair, and looked well put together in the latest trends. I had dark skin with

short kinky hair, and wore whatever was on sale at the local department store. Not cool

at all. Overall, they stood out and were favored, while I stayed hidden and unknown. It

was easy to just keep quiet anyways because I didn’t have the looks, charm or

charisma.

My faith always taught me that I was wonderfully made by God and that everyone is

uniquely beautiful. Knowing this, I eventually went on a pursuit to learn how I could

embrace my natural characteristics and make the best of how God created me. That’s

when I discovered Image Consulting and the process of making yourself over to look

and be your highest potential.

Through my journey, I learned:

1. There is a science and formula behind beauty, which is to dress in harmony with

your natural characteristics and personality.

2. My image and other people’s perceptions of me are not only based on the

clothing, hair and makeup I wear, but also my body language and communication,

which ultimately come from how I see myself.

3. Once I embrace my entire being and learn to own my distinct role and potential,

that’s when I become most confident, attractive and beautiful.

Now I am a totally different person! I am out of the shadows and find myself living in the

spotlight! I feel and know that my image and personality shine bright as people actually

see me, remember my name and genuinely want to get to know me and stay in touch. I

also love every aspect of me; skin color, hair texture, eyes, lips, everything! I no longer

feel intimidated in the presence of sexy or beautiful people, but I celebrate their beauty,

my beauty and the glorious differences that make us all uniquely beautiful.
