Why would I want to download my Twitter archive?
● Your business should have a record of all its communications, including tweets.
● To find tweeted photos that you've since lost.● To find those clever tweets you can re-use. ● Because you can.
Step 1: Go to 'Settings'
Step 2: Scroll down the 'Account' page
Step 3: Click 'Request your archive'
Step 4: Confirmation of request
It could arrive within a minute or two
Step 6: Click button in the email
Step 7: Click to download archive
Step 8: The download arrives
How your downloaded file will appear will depend on which browser you use. This is how it appears in Chrome.
Step 9: Open the download
Double click, or right click and choose 'Open' to access the downloaded file.
This is how it will look in Windows 8, when opened.
Step 10: Extract the files
To use the archive you must first extract it to a new location.
Click 'Extract'.
You will be prompted to choose a destination for the files extracted.
Step 11: Make a new folder
The best approach is to create a new folder to receive the extracted files. You might want to call it 'Twitter Archive'.
Step 12: Open your archive
Now the files are extracted to their own folder, double-click on 'index' to launch the archive in your brower.
Step 13: View your archived tweets
You can now navigate your archive.
