How to download library ebooks to your
KindleBrowse, check out, and download FREE
eBooks with your library card anytime or anywhere using Overdrive!
This show was made by librarians at Boxford Town Library for libraries that are part of the Merrimack
Valley Library Consortium (MVLC.)
But the directions work the same way for any library that uses Overdrive, including all of these and more!
Let’s start!
Go to MVLC’s Overdrive page at mvlc.lib.overdrive.com.
Click on Sign In.
Library Barcode
On the Sign In page, you’ll be asked for your library card number. This is located below the barcode on your card.
When you’ve entered your number, click Sign In.
Congrats, you’ve signed in! Now click Advanced Search.
On the Advanced Search page, click on All Formats.
Select “Kindle Books.” This will make sure that only books that can be read on a Kindle will come up when you search.
Click “Search.”
All of these results can be read on a Kindle!
Click on the cover of a book that you would like to borrow.
Click on the cover of a book that you would like to borrow.
Found one!
This book ready right now! Click on Borrow.
The book is now checked out to you and ready to download!
When you click Download, a menu will appear. Make sure that Kindle Book is selected and then click Confirm & Download.
You’ll be redirected to Amazon.com. Click Get Library Book.
Sign in with your Amazon password.
Once you’re signed in, click Continue.
Congrats! Your book will appear on your Kindle automatically the next time it connects to the Internet over Wi-Fi.
What if a book isn’t available?If the book you want is already checked out, Place a Hold on it! Then you’ll be notified by email as soon as the book is available again.
