Dear all,
the Slovakian data collection is finished at the moment, if we want more data sets, then I would have to talkto Prof. Sona Supekova if that would be possible on her behalf.
Shall I do that?
Best,
Martin

And good morning wherever you are right now, Petra...
Special thanks to you. Your issues and questions are moving us forward. Kindly keep them coming. This is amonumental project, and all hanbds are needed.
(1) I favor making your alternative model primary. It is theorydriven and innovative. Linkages to outcomevariables in the earlier overloaded model are are wellworn and boringly intuitive.
(2) Slovakia: is that all there is? I had assumed that n = 109 respondents was the end of the story. However,it would be best if the effort were continued to n >200 as it is for other country data sets. BTW can we have aprogress report on the other country data sets?
(3) The provisional plan for the project: As I see it, we have data collector contributors who will be available forideas and critique in passim. For theories and models, l have identified published authors with special expertisein consumer dispositionsyou, Alex, Walter and yours truly. Walter, in particular, has made importantcontributions to the model and specific crosscultural measures and versions to be employed.
We have already generated hypotheses and adduced their rationale. At present, I am working on ameasurements section with a research assistant. For data analysis, since we are all busy beyond belief, there isthe possibility that we might bring onboard an additional advanced methods specialist contributor who has thetime and stamina and can work under our direction. Programs are optional (I have EQS at the ready). I hadsuch a data analyst party who was technically proficient, disinterested in substance and theory (an idealrequirement), but is no longer available. Any ideas?

Finally, in the last phase of actually drafting the article, I will join forces with you and Alex and others whowant to step forward for this phase.
PLEASE COMMENT :)

Good morning from sunny Vienna,
some issues and questions:
(1) please find attached the revised model based on Mel's comment on the twodimensional nature of genderroles (i.e. feminine and masculine)
(2) Is the Slovakian data set with n=109 completed or are there more respondents to come?
(3) Project Management: I think it would be helpful if you, Mel, as the project leader could provide a clearlist of assignments so that everybody knows what to do and by when. There are many things pending and Ibelieve we would benefit from a plan. With regard to data analysis, I am not sure how you intend to proceed. Is this done by a subset of coauthors, if so, by whom and using what program?
Many thanks for leading us! :)
Best,Petra

Hello All,
I have attached the latest database for Slovakia to arrive for those who have not had access. Weare waiting on three more databases: India, UK and Norway.
Once the databases are in, we can look at crossnational measurement validation of scalemeasures by computing for each country and for pooled data:
(a) dimensionality and discriminant validity, (b) convergent validity, (c) fit indices of nfactormodels, consistent factor structure and (d) composite reliability.
Crosscultural validation of these scales is, in itself, an important contribution.

Regrettably, I do not have SPSS nor Lisrel.

Good morning from Vienna,
I fully agree, Mel. I think it would be wonderful to have such drafted sections in order to proceed. For your information, I attach the current draft by Alex and myself on the cosmoCDI relationshipas well as the initial model draft (for which we might add alternative models later). I hope this ishelpful for your sections.
Refering to Mel/Alex's conversation: to me, the question remains how we believe how values, gender roles and morality relate to CDI.and how marginality relates to these links?
How are we going to proceed on the data analysis? I someone volunteering to check forpsychometrics (alphas, means, SD) of our scales in a first step? Can we use SPSS (and then LISREL for SEMs) or are you planning to use something else?
Best,Petra

Glad you asked.
In my view, a priority for your contribution (as well as that of Martin and Andrea) tothe article's text will be a small section that theorizes and hypothesizes about theeffects of moral foundation on consumer cosmopolitanism and disidentification. Ihave attached a recent article on Moral Ties that in itself may be useful in this taskand its references are ample. Additionally, you will find the collection of chapters inmy book on Consumer Cosmopolitanism in the Age of Globalizationand especiallyPetra's workbeneficial. Josiassen's article on disidentification will be instructive, aswell.
Kindly let me know how you wish to proceed. Undoubtedly, Petra will have someadditional thoughts about contributions of all coauthors.
Best,
Mel

Dear Melvin,
after contacting Martin and Andrea, as far as I can see, we have now provided allthe data we are able to provide.

So the next step will be data analysis and the publication of results. Unfortunately, due to multiple obligation, I was unable to follow the discussion with respect to thetheoretical details.
Please could you kindly let us know how to proceed further. Of course, as coauthors we would like to contribute at least small parts of the final text...
I suppose that data analysis will be done on the basis of the complete, internationaldata set, but please let us know whether we could contribute to this as well.
For now, all our best wishes and many thanks for the excellent cooperation –
with all my best wishes and kind regards
Walter
