How to Create Hydrographs in Excel
(This is for Microsoft Office Excel 2007)
1. Select Station

2. Download RAW Data
• Enter Start Date and End Date if it is different from default dates of 3 days (highlighted in red)
• Under “View More Raw Data” select Discharge or Gage Height (highlighted in blue)
• Then Click on EXCEL button

3. An Excel window will pop up with the RAW data:
NOTE: if you have your pop up blocker turned on in Internet Explorer you may need to go to Tools Pop Up Blocker Pop Up Blocker Settings and add “*.state.nm.us” in the “Address of website to allow:” box and click Add and then Close and restart your browser. Then the Excel window should pop up the next time you try to download data in Excel. Also, depending on your Internet Explorer settings you may see a dialog box like this:
Just click on the Open button to display the excel file in a new window.

4. Highlight the data you would like to graph:
NOTE: if you select the column header information it will be included in graph

5. Go to Insert Line Graph
6. Select the type of line graph you would like to see
NOTE: Once your hydrograph is created you can use the design menu at the top to change the look of your chart.
