Application Sections

The application is broken up into 4 distinct parts, Personal Information, Academic History, Supporting

Information, and Program Materials.

The “Personal Information”, “Academic History” and “Supporting Information” sections are considered

‘centralized’ and contain data elements and questions common among participating programs. The “Program

Materials” section allows each school and program to collect additional information from applicants if needed

for their admissions review process.

Transcript Processing

What is the process for submitting transcripts?

Verification: there are different verification types; “Full Verification”, “Light Verification” or “No

Verification” depending on how the school configured their program requirements. You can determine which

type of verification your program has in the Academic History section by viewing the transcript requirements

and transcript entry requirements. See images below for more details.

Transcript Requirements

When you navigate to the Colleges Attended tab under the Academic History section of your application you

will be able to view the transcript requirements for each program you are applying to.

After you enter the schools you attended previously, you will see a blue button that will allow you to download

a Transcript Request form. You can then send that form to each school you attended in the past. They will

then send an official transcript to NursingCAS.

Official Transcripts – Your program requires that you have official transcripts mailed directly to NursingCAS

by the issuing institution’s registrar’s office for processing where they will be validated for authenticity by the

operations team at NursingCAS. Transcripts should be mailed to the address below (and please have the

registrar include the Transcript Request Form).

NursingCAS

P.O. Box 9201

Watertown, MA 02471 Please note: NursingCAS accepts official transcripts sent electronically from Credentials Solutions ONLY.

See if your school participates with Credentials Solutions.

Unofficial Transcripts: Your program does not require you to send any transcripts to NursingCAS. Instead

please upload an unofficial version of your transcripts in either the Colleges Attended section or the Program

Materials section under the Documents tab depending on what your school requires.

No Transcripts: The program you have selected does not require any transcripts be sent to NursingCAS.

Please note that typically this option is chosen by schools that require the transcripts are mailed directly to their

offices, please check with this program to determine additional transcript requirements outside of NursingCAS.

Transcript Entry

When you navigate to the Transcript Entry tab under the Academic History section of your application you

will be able to view the requirements for each program you are applying to.

NursingCAS Transcript Department

311 Arsenal Street, Suite #15

Watertown, MA 02472

*Using the P.O. Box address for anything mailed by FedEx/UPS may delay the receipt of your transcript in

office and you may need to redirect where the transcript is mailed to. NursingCAS is not responsible for any

delays caused by this as these services DO NOT deliver to P.O. Boxes. Please note that overnight mail MUST

be delivered to NursingCAS during our hours of business, which are Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm Eastern

Standard Time. We cannot receive materials which arrive outside of these hours at our street address.

Evaluations (Letters of Recommendations)

Evaluations are critical to the review of your application. To avoid processing delays, please review the

directions to be certain the information you submit is complete and accurate. Before you enter your

evaluation information in this section, it is suggested you contact the individuals to confirm they will author

your evaluation and to find out their preferred email address.

Designate your evaluations early in the application process. We strongly encourage you to enter your

evaluation information first to expedite their receipt of the evaluation request. Because NursingCAS

evaluation requests may be caught by spam filters, applicants are encouraged to contact their reference to ask

them to allow their email systems to “permit” the NursingCAS reference mail address:

[email protected]

Evaluations are configured by the school and can vary depending on the program you select. If Evaluations are

required or requested (note: they will be marked as “optional”), you will see an “Evaluations” tab on the

Program’s Homepage in the “Program Materials” section. To create an Evaluation Request, go to the

Supporting Materials, and click Evaluations. If you do not see an Evaluations tab then you are not required to

submit them via NursingCAS.

You’ll see this button

Page 8: How to Create an Account in NURS CAS - Davenport University CAS... · Davenport University requires official transcripts be submitted to NursingCAS. The Per Transcript GPA(s) and

Once you have saved the request form for your evaluations, they will be notified via email that you requested

their evaluation. They will need to follow the directions in the email to create an account and fill out the

required information. If at any time they have difficulty, please have them send an email to

[email protected] that includes their issue and your applicant ID number.

You are able to review the status of your evaluations by going to the “Supporting Information” section of your

application and clicking on Evaluations.

Note: it is not necessary to wait until your Evaluators have responded to submit your application.

Below is an example of the 4 different statuses under which your evaluations may appear:

Status Definitions:

o Requested – Your email has been sent to your Evaluator at the email provided. o Accepted – Your Evaluator has gotten the email and logged into the portal after creating an account.

Page 9: How to Create an Account in NURS CAS - Davenport University CAS... · Davenport University requires official transcripts be submitted to NursingCAS. The Per Transcript GPA(s) and

o Completed – Your Evaluator has submitted your Ratings and Letter.

o Declined – The Evaluator declined to complete the Evaluation. Please delete and re-add if this was a mistake.

How to Submit Your Application

As you move through each section of the application, you are able to see what is complete and what is still in

progress. Once all required sections have been completed, you will see each section turn ‘green’ and the number

of program(s) that are ready to submit indicated in the ‘My Program Selections’ box, as seen below.

To submit the application, click “Submit Application”, and you will see the list of which programs are ready to

submit.

The next screen will allow to confirm which program(s) you are ready to pay for and submit.

Page 10: How to Create an Account in NURS CAS - Davenport University CAS... · Davenport University requires official transcripts be submitted to NursingCAS. The Per Transcript GPA(s) and

You can see examples of this below:

Click the ‘+’ sign to select the program you want to pay for and submit.

Once you have selected all of the programs you wish to apply to, click ‘Continue’ to go to the payment screens.

How to Check Your Application Status You have sent the requests for your materials for your application such as transcripts, what is next? Within NursingCAS you have the ability to review the status of your application and your transcripts directly

from the application. To do so, follow the steps below:

Program Status Applicants can now check if their official transcripts have been processed prior to submitting their application.

The application interface has been redesigned to include four tabs along the top of the page (My Application,

Add Program, Submit Application, and Check Status). The first three tabs are existing screens that have been

elevated for easier access.

Page 11: How to Create an Account in NURS CAS - Davenport University CAS... · Davenport University requires official transcripts be submitted to NursingCAS. The Per Transcript GPA(s) and

The Check Status page is new and was designed to help applicants find this page more easily and track their

status. The screen is divided into two parts, Application Materials and My Submitted Programs:

1) Application Materials, which displays the following information for all programs:

o Transcripts – all transcripts Arrived 2 of 3 (yellow—turns green when 3 of 3) > Verifying

o Note only “Official Transcripts” will reach the “Verifying” status

o If you are applying to a program that requires:

o “Unofficial Transcripts” or “No Transcripts” then this section will state that “No transcripts are needed

for this program.”

o If you upload a required “Unofficial Transcript” then you will see a “Completed” icon with a green

checkmark and the date it was uploaded

o It is important that you check the “Academic History” section to confirm your program’s requirement

and upload an “Unofficial Transcript” if necessary

o To navigate to “Academic History” click on “My Application” at the top of the page then click on

“Academic History” and “Colleges Attended”

o Evaluations (References) – all evaluations, Requested > Accepted > Completed

Page 12: How to Create an Account in NURS CAS - Davenport University CAS... · Davenport University requires official transcripts be submitted to NursingCAS. The Per Transcript GPA(s) and

o Note: Evaluations is another term for “References” which are contained in the “Supporting Information”

section of NursingCAS since every program has different requirements this section automatically

defaults to say “Evaluations are optional for this application. They are not required for submission.”

o However, some programs DO REQUIRE References/Evaluations so you must check the “Programs

Materials” section and click on the program’s homepage to check whether or not they require references

since most programs that do require references will not review your application until references are in

o So even though it says “evaluations are option for this application” meaning the NursingCAS

application overall, the specific program(s) you are applying to might actually require references as part

of their admissions process

o To navigate to “Program Materials” click on “My Application” at the top of the page then click on

“Program Materials” and the name of the program and review their homepage text for any information

about reference requirements

2) My Submitted Programs, which shows the same materials but organized by the programs for which they

are required

o Official Transcripts for that program

o Evaluations (References) for the program – Requested > Accepted > Completed

Users can click each of the areas to view more details. As each of the materials move through the statuses, the

information and color of the subtabs changes (yellow to indicate in progress, and green to indicate complete).

Statuses for each area are as follows (with numerical indicators (0 of 1, 2 of 3) to indicate the status of in-

progress items:

o Transcripts: Arrived > Verifying

Page 13: How to Create an Account in NURS CAS - Davenport University CAS... · Davenport University requires official transcripts be submitted to NursingCAS. The Per Transcript GPA(s) and

After official transcripts have been received and you have submitted your application, the status moves into

“Verifying”. If your program requires Full Transcript Entry (tip: check the “Academic History” > “Transcript

Entry” section to confirm) the Verification process may take up to 2 weeks.

After the verification process is complete, your program status will appear green, with a final status of

“Verified”.

When items are not required, that information also displays for clarity. For example, when transcripts are not

required, the Transcript section displays Transcripts Not Required.

For Undelivered programs, users can click links to “Check your notifications” and “review the program” before

clicking the button to Resubmit Programs.

On the “Submit Application” page you can also Remove Program(s) you no longer wish to apply to by clicking

on the trash can icon.

Definitions:

o Received o Verified – NursingCAS has cross checked your official transcripts with your Coursework entered in the

“Transcript Entry” section and has Verified your information is correct, then we calculate multiple GPAs for

the program(s) to use to make admissions decisions.

Please note: NursingCAS will continue to process any materials that come in and will make them available to

your designated programs. So as long as you have submitted your application by their deadline then your

transcripts with your final grades will be available to their admissions/nursing staff as soon as they are

processed.

Page 14: How to Create an Account in NURS CAS - Davenport University CAS... · Davenport University requires official transcripts be submitted to NursingCAS. The Per Transcript GPA(s) and

Unfortunately, there is no way to tell if your transcripts have arrived until they are processed and scanned. Our

operations process all transcripts for NursingCAS in the order that they are received. However, we do continue

to process them even after a deadline has passed. Please keep in mind that due to the high volume of mail

received daily it can take between 7 – 10 days to post a transcript to an applicant’s account.

If you have questions about the program specifically and how they review transcripts, we recommend reaching

out directly to the school.
