Cleaning is an inherent part ofmaintenance of the equipment becausethe mineral deposits, especially fromhard water cause scaling which graduallyslow down the process of heating.

Besides, apart from destroying yourkettles sleek appearance, this gunk calledkettle furring, can even spoil yourmorning tea or coee when you nd theakes oating freely in your tea or coee. So, here are some tips and tricks to helpclean your electric kettle.

    4. Let the vinegar-water mix sit in thekettle for 15-20 minutes. Now, throwthe water away and rinse theequipment.

You may have to rinse several timesto make sure there is no trace ofvinegar remaining in the kettle. Youshall be amazed to nd that youhave gotten rid of the chunks of limescale so easily.

    5. Wipe the inside of the kettle with aclean cloth and leave it to dry

    completely.

    6. After drying, you can again boil waterin the kettle and discard it to removepossible remaining aftertaste leftafter cleaning.

Plus, you can scrub the inside of thekettle with a non-metallic pad, carefullyavoiding the heating element (built intothe bottom).

There are certain manufacturers thatexplicitly warn against the use of vinegarfor cleaning their products. In such cases, you can ll your kettle with water, squeeze a lemon in it and put slices ofthe same lemon in the solution.

Boil this water and leave it in the kettlefor about an hour. Pour out the waterand rinse the kettle. When the kettle hascooled, sprinkle a little baking soda at thebottom and wipe it with a clean piece ofcloth. Finally, rinse it thoroughly with coldwater.

Alternatively, you can put a teaspoon ofbaking soda and some water in the kettleand boil the solution to remove scaling.Citric acid is also considered good forgetting rid of the kettle furring.

As for the cleaning the outside of thekettle, you can use any dishwashingliquid and wipe it with a clean dampcloth. While cleaning the outside, try notto scratch the nish, though. To make astainless steel electric kettle shiny, put alittle olive oil on a cloth and rub it on theoutside of the kettle.

    AdditionalTips

People tend to leave extra water inthe kettle after use but this is not agood practice as standing water canleave more mineral deposits in it.Thus, make sure you empty yourelectric kettle thoroughly after everyuse. It is best to boil only the amountof water you require.

To prevent or at least slow down thebuildup of yucky mineral deposits inyour kettle, consider using alimescale catcher.

You should clean your electric kettleexterior at least once a week anddescale the interior about once amonth or every few months, depending on your frequency of use.

As the heating element of the kettleis present at the bottom, do notimmerse it in water.

Thanks for a clear tutorial. Ifollowed your instructionsand I cant believe somethingso simple actually worked. My kettle hadnt beeninternally cleaned in about ayear and is now lookingalmost new. It is important tonot go more than 3/4 full ofthe kettles maximumindicator as the solution willboil vigourously- mineoverboiled but I was standingright there watching so I hitthe off switch.

Our kettle boiled over withthe vinegar mixture. In futureI will just let it sit in the kettle, warm, rather than boil it.

would help. Baking soda is asalt. And what you have inyour kettle is mineral salts.Youre just adding to theproblem by using bakingsoda. You need an acid to getrid of the buildup. Stick to thevinegar or citrus options.
